I am studying for my written exam and I am stuck on one that is pretty easy, but just want to know I have the correct answer or not.

Bases loaded, 2 outs, full count on the batter, runners off on the pitch, ball 4 to the batter, but before R3 touches the plate, R2 rounds third and is picked off on the other side of third (he already has touched third), he is tagged out before R3 touches the plate.

I want to say the run does count because R3 is awarded home, so I think no matter what his run counts.

This is OBR ruling by the way.

I think this one may leave a few of us scratching our heads, I know it did to me...

Thats a good one - I know the batter is awarded 1st but does that mean all runners are awarded the next base. Its definately a live ball.

I think (in truth, guess) that no runs scored. My entire logic is based on if R3 is awarded home he wouldnt even need to touch the plate. He could just just go to the dugout and sit down.

Interesting question.

Your logic is a little flawed. Bases are awarded for a varity of reason. A runner may advance with out liabilty to be put out but he must still run the bases correctly. This is why they can't just go sit down, they have to prove they can run and touch everything properly.
There was a question the other day, I think on another board, where a grand slam was hit with two outs and the BR passed the R1 between first and second. The question was how many runs score. In HS only all three runs score. In anything else only whatever had already touched scored.
In the OP the run would score because the runner reached his award base and went by it and was tagged. The R3 is still allowed to score. This is true in all codes.
