Domingo surprised our high school baseball program on Saturday, and spent the day with our team at our annual Hit-a-thon and Mother/Son game...He No Semi-Pro! This event is held every year at our school, giving our families from all three programs (Frosh, JV, & Varsity) an opportunity to hang out together, barbecue and have a good time. A hitathon (actually HR contest) between the players kicked off the festivities, followed by a HR contest (long distance competition?) with the dads, then the coaching staff. Lastly, the Mother/Son game is played. The JV/Frosh moms play game one, and the Varsity moms play the winner in game two...it's a great day that helps build relationships within our program.

I showed my wife the Domingo Ayala videos a couple months ago, and like me, she laughed her buns off. We noticed that Domingo had a facebook page, so of course we "Liked" it. We took a shot that he'd "Kill two Stones wit one Bird", invited him to our school, and he accepted. Domingo hopped the centerfield fence as the kids were stretching Saturday morning, took over the stretching (a-la CSUF), and hung out for the next 4-5 hours. He participated in the HR (hitathon), and yes, he hit a couple out and "popped the chain"! The boys received a Mini Domingo lesson on proper bunting techniques, infield/outfield drills, etc...and he hung around to help announce a Mother/Son game.

Domingo is a funny guy, and it was evident that he really enjoyed spending time with everyone and making us laugh. He's got skills, has a college degree, and he's a family man...as his dad, mom, and grandma hung out with us too! Domingo deserves all the notoriety that he's been receiving, and I wish him continued success...our families had a blast with him, and no doubt the players won't forget Saturday!

cabbagedad- Thanks for the compliment, I'll let my wife know too, she did most of the work! Wink

observer44- Our coach had a nice conversation with his dad (very nice guy), he had mentioned that his son had received a masters...and yes, I found out that he graduated from your son's alma mater...pretty cool stuff!

Great stuff! Thanks for sharing.

Our players are constantly quoting him as well, Out in LF. And their expressions as he walked towards them after hopping the fence was priceless!
