I am a high school coach from Virginia and am helping with an international trip this summer. We are looking for high school age (including graduating seniors) baseball players who would be interested in going to the Dominican Republic for a week in the summer of 2008. Great trip includes practices with dominicans, games, tours and time at the beach. College coaches from great schools such as Mississippi State and Vanderbilt are signed up to go as well.

t-a-b-- Perhaps, but expand your frame of reference. We took a team to the DR last summer and will be doing so again this summer. A couple of our players went a few days early and worked out with the Dominican kids in one of the baseball academies in Santiago. After that we played a seven game series over the course of five days. If you ask the kids, besides seven great baseball games, the cultural experience was something they will remember for the rest of their lives. It was very eye-opening for a group of kids (and adults) who come from pretty comfortable backgroudns. This is probably the one place where you can take a team, play against superb competition and get this kind of cultural experience. Well worth it.
I agree with Mr. Caulfield. My husband and I have traveled to developing countries for work, and it is an invaluable experience - really makes you appreciate what we have here in the USA and the things we take for granted. 2B really wants to go to this camp next summer and we are gong to try to make a vacation out of it. In addition to the cultural experience, we figure it'll help his Spanish tremendously and he might even be able to get some community service credit for the project they describe on the website. Plus the baseball should be fantastic. He would love to go early and spend a couple of days working out with the Dominican kids at one of the academies!

Sammy, if we are able to arrange for 2B to come to your camp, can you help us get some time at one of the academies? Or is there some other way to do it?

Thanks!
