I just used the "Find" tool to see how many times Rudy and the movie and Rudy Ruettiger have been referenced on this site.
Found 5 full pages of posts.
The Rudy movie and his story at Notre Dame was/is so compelling...until now...?

http://money.cnn.com/2011/12/1.../index.htm?iid=HP_LN

Rudy pays over $300,000, without admitting liability, to settle SEC charges he deceived and bilked investors of about $11,000,000 in a business deal for a Rudy sports drink.
Probably won't be a movie about this.
Sad, really sad, especially for those who invested, some probably based on an image which was media created, and appear to be out some $11,000,000.

Heartbroken over this as I loved the movie...

As I think about it, Rudy might have been more of a conniver than the altruistic kid with a dream they portrayed him as in the movie. In fact, there was a scene in the movie, where Rudy became a member of Notre Dame boosters by lying about his affiliation with the University. He also left a window open for himself (without permission) in the stadium so he could sleep at no charge to himself. Perhaps not a big thing (lying to get into boosters, sleeping in the stadium) in the scheme of things, but it appears Rudy's "conniving" skills are still very sharp
CD,

You're so right.

Now that I think about it those things were probably percursors to what would eventually play out in real life.

It's really amazing how crimes are carried out but when one thinks about it, it always begins with the simple act of thought. That is where it is bred and fostered. Then it graduates to something petty. So on and so forth.

I'm not sure that I'll be able to watch this movie the same way as before now. It was one of my all time favorites along with Sergeant York. PLEASE don't come up with any dirt on him! geez

I thought the movie was a neat story, but around the time it came out there was some kind of review that said that some people thought that Rudy's motivation for staying with the team was financial self interest and that he thought he could make something from the story.

I don't know how that would square with his teammates offering their spot to him so he could dress for the game, but I clearly remember that someone wrote it and it sounded credible.
