for draft consideration of college player I believe 21 w/in 45 days after draft, so no August is not in that window

Looks like the end date for for the drat is 8/15. If a player turns 21 on 8/8 it would appear that MLB would be able to sign throgh 8/15 so long as player has not stepped foot on Campus before the fall semester begins, say 8/17. Would that be the correct interpetation? Is that how you read it?

that 8/15 is the new signing deadline ...
the birthday deadline would be about july 22

A player must turn 21 before July 20 of that years draft to be draft elgible.

Florida Fan....The date changes from year to year because the date the draft starts changes from year to year. A player can sign in any year that he turns 21 before 45 days after the start of the draft for that specific year.

The 2008 First-Year Player Draft is scheduled to begin on Thursday, June 5 and may continue through Saturday, June 7, or until completion.

Round 1 will begin at 2 P.M. (EDT) and continue with Compensation Round A until 6 P.M. (EDT). There will be five minutes between picks in Round 1 and 90 seconds between picks in Compensation A. The draft will continue with Round 3 until 9:00 P.M. (EDT), but will not end prior to the completion of Round 5. If we are in the middle of a round at 9:00 P.M. (EDT), the round will be completed. The specifics of the broadcast will be announced shortly.

The draft will continue Friday morning, June 6 at 11:30 A.M. (EDT) via conference call to the conclusion of the draft. We will monitor the pace of the draft on Friday and decide whether there will be a need to continue into Saturday, June 7.

There will be 30-second break between picks for Rounds 2 through 5. There will be no 30-second break between picks following Round 5. On Friday, there will also be a five-minute break following Rounds 20, 30 and 40.

TPM....I just gave you the rule above. Its MLB Rule 4 (e) (5). There is a 45 day rule. Your link above didn't even answer his question. Why answer if you don't know?

No real need to confirm, but I'll do so anyway. There is definitely a 45 day limit as to how long after the draft a player can turn 21 and be draft eligible.
