So I posted this question on an old thread but I figured I would get a better response by just starting a new one.  Son is out until thanksgiving, with no throwing.  However, he has one of the best work ethics I've ever seen and can't stand the thought of him just sitting around and not getting better.  So he said he's gonna really try and work on his mechanics because honestly, they're not great. He has mainly 2 problems:
1.). He pulls his glove side real bad as opposed to staying closed.
2.). He throws across his body really bad.
Someone posted on the thread earlier that it would be impossible to work on these mechanics but TPM recommended the towel drill and after son looked it up he thinks it'll be perfect for what he is trying to accomplish.  Besides just going through his pitching motion thousands of times the CORRECT way, are there any specific drills he may can do that would help him?  Also, it's probably worth noting that son is a sidearm pitcher.

Another random note:  Son sometimes has problems with not using his lower half.  I have looked at the "Pitchers Power drive" and it is obviously not cheap.  Would it be worth the money to purchase it? Anyone have any experience with it.  Thanks everyone your opinions are greatly appreciated!!

Honestly, if I were you, I'd find a good pitching instructor.  I have found that trying to fix things yourself can make things worse.  If he has mechanical issues, is it because of your coaching?  If so, then probably you aren't going to be able to fix them.   I have personal experience with this.  Try to find someone who is really qualified to work with him.  There are also some folks online who work with folks, like driveline baseball.  Best to you, and I am glad that your boy is self motivated to work.
