Now that I've started to to pull my hips through when I throw, what drills can I do to be more consistent? Right now the movement feels pretty unnatural, so anything I can do to make this better would be good.
I'm having a hard time understanding what you are saying, but remember drills alot of times are very disruptive and are not the best way to help. I've found drills make you think too much and lead to a pitcher who is too slow. Make sure you're not into rotating your hips too early.
I should have mentioned this. I'm not a pitcher, I'm an outfielder. I have had really bad mechanics most of my life and now I'm trying to fix my problems and using my lower body is definitely holding me back from throwing my furthest.
TR, I cannot afford to go to the Binghamton Showcase this year, and I don't qualify because I haven't played varsity ball yet. But, after next year, going to the colege select showcase is definitely on my list of places to go.
We have six coaches on our staff one of whom is a HS Coach in the Fredonia area--Perhaps I can hook you up with him so he can check your outfield fielding and throwing mechanics for you
Sorry if I'm getting a late start on this one but I'm a pitcher and have learned a very effective drill for this. My pitching coach that I'm with now has a drill that I do where you start a good ways off from your catcher or person catching with your back to him. Then you start back peddaling backwards as fast as you can for 3 or 4 steps and you plant your back foot and step and throw as quick and hard as you can. That's not a very good description but it's what I can think of right now
