There is a shift next year to the districts...I believe that Broad Run goes to AAA Cedar Run...I think there is at least one more team moving to AAA while Loudoun Valley moves down...I'm sure I don't have everything, but it is a start and I'm sure someone will know...

I know there is plenty of talent moving up over the coming years at many of the high schools in the area (AA or AAA)...
Loudoun Valley and Heritage move down while Broad Run and Freedom move up to the Cedar Run District.

For me, I really don't know all of the players since our team just joined the district. I did see a number of players that did well at this level this season though. I do know that from the projections that I saw on VAPrep on who people thought would be all-district it pretty much played out that way, only difference being that some were projected 1st team and they ended up on 2nd team etc. but the names were pretty accurate.

My take on things (team wise) will be that Briar Woods, Pot Falls, and Woodgrove will be tough next year. I say that because Briar Woods was top 4 this year with few seniors, Woodgrove was tough this season with NO seniors and Pot Falls is always tough. County will probably struggle since almost their whole team was seniors. Heritage will probably struggle since they lose some quality seniors and Valley will probably struggle as well since they are still trying to develop a new group of core players to replace those that left for Woodgrove. Dominion will be fine in my opinion. Not sure about Tuscarora. They have a great coach and some good talent but for some reason they were very spotty this season. Park View will always struggle since baseball takes a serious backseat to s****r at the school...

My $.02 which no doubt will be proven wrong once 2012 plays out. LOL But it will be fun to debate that out over the next year...

Okay, someone will have to tell me why the American word for "European Football" was starred out like it was a cuss word. So I will say it again...

Park View will always struggle since baseball takes a serious backseat to "football" (and I don't mean American style football) at the school...

Too funny...

Briar Woods had only 1 senior, the centerfielder who can track it down like nobody else in the Dulles District, Victor Rizzardi.
You're right about Victor. My son hit a shot out to deep left center that Victor tracked down and snagged on a full-out stretch in a game we played at Woodgrove. He caught the ball about 6 inches off the ground and a foot from the fence and went crashing into the fence once he caught it. One of the most amazing catches I have seen in years. Hated to see him do it against my son but **** it was a beautiful catch! It was by far the most spectacular play I saw all season...
Two young players to watch on Woodgrove will be Matt Jeffery and Josh Sweet. They both had extremely good seasons this summer with their summer teams and I honestly think they will have breakout seasons. They both had typical freshman seasons last year but I really believe that they will have a big impact this year. Sweet is moving to the Canes for his summer program this summer and Matt is a Stars guy for the summer. They are quality players and if they do have breakout seasons and the returning starters play up to their previous standards then Woodgrove will be pretty tough.

I think that they both will be fine but am guessing that Broad Run will fare the best. Battlefield has been ruling the district but they did lose two top pitchers in Williams and Abel. They do have quality guys coming up the ranks though, just have to see if they have guys that can step into the top pitching slots. Broad Run lost Taylor Clarke but Powell more than makes up for it and the rest of the team is strong. My bet is that they will take the district. My uneducated guess would be BR, BF, OS/FR...

How about you?

My son played with Powell this past summer. Great kid and family! Have a friends son that plays for Freedom as well..... Used to live in N VA 20 years ago....now in NC. Curious to the effect since VA has 1A, 2A, and 3A...down here we have 1A, 2A, 3A, and 4A. (Although I've heard that VA is expanding to a 4A as well soon)
Last year was my 1st year in Dulles and I would have to say, the Dulles had the most impressive pitching I've seen in years. Top to bottom, basically each team had someone that could beat the other team.

IMHO, the Dulles pitching was heads and shoulders above the NWD and that's where I come from.

We won state title back in '99 at Handley going 25-1. Had some good games vs Loudoun Valley.

Results from '99 season:
3-1 Loudoun Valley
13-7 James Wood
12-3 Harrisonburg
2-1 Sherando
6-1 Turner Ashby
4-3 Loudoun County
9-2 Liberty
13-1 Turner Ashby
5-1 Warren County
4-11 Loudoun Valley
12-0 James Wood
7-2 Fauquier
10-7 Sherando
15-1 Loudoun County
8-2 Harrisonburg
15-0 Liberty
16-1 Warren County
2-0 Fauquier

Northwestern District Tournament:
5-0 Sherando
3-0 Loudoun Valley

Region II Tournament:
11-2 Turner Ashby
11-3 Harrisonburg
8-1 Waynesboro

Group AA State Tournament:
2-1 Poquoson
9-1 Lebanon
5-1 Rustburg

We scored 210 and allowed just 53.

Wish we had him another year!
