My son's truck was broken into last night right in front of our house. They smashed the drivers side window and ripped out his radio - a K-Mart special worth maybe $150 installed.

In the back of the truck were two bats, $250 plus, complete (1 old, 1 new) catchers gear (probably $200 Plus each), brand new catchers glove given to him by the coach (guessing $300) all in a new bag - they didnt touch any of it - we are counting our blessings!
To our military men, women and families - You are all awesome - that flag is yours and I thank you for the opportunity for giving me the honor of removing my cap prior to every baseball game I see.

I wish we were so lucky. At the end of last summer, my kid was getting ready for his team's trip to the Legion state tournament for which they had qualified.

Got all his gear arranged, packed, and took it out to put in his Mom's car. Set it down in the driveway because the trunk of the car was locked.

He went inside to get the last stuff together so she could take him to the team bus, and when they emerged 15 minutes later to leave, it was all gone. We live on a dead end road, maybe one car every 10 minutes, and only a few houses past ours on the road.

Three gloves, several bats, catchers gear, helmet, cleats - all of it gone.

Talk about a scramble! Luckily it was a travel day and no game til the next day.

We are still replacing some of that stuff. I guess it could have been worse - could have been the middle of the season.

rz1, your right. You should have seen the two of when we realized the truck was broken into - both of us looked at each other and no words were spoke. DID THEY TAKE THE GEAR!!!!

We were mad already and if they had taken the gear you might of seen us on the evening news:

"Two crazed baseball folks terrorize town, more at 11"
Maybe I shouldn't post this here because the thread is a semi-humorous look at crooks and this one is very serious ... but here goes anyway.

On today's news here in the Minneapolis area, a late teens/early 20s male broke into a 73-year-old man's house in the middle of the night last night. The old man, in an upstairs bedroom, heard a side door being broken into downstairs. When the intruder reached the upstairs bedroom, shining a flashlight in the dark, the 73-year-old shot him, and the intruder died.

There have been some cases of elderly people beaten and murdered in their homes by intruders in the past year in our metro area. With my 74-yr-old mom living alone, I can understand the rightful fear for his life this man would have. The news reports said he is not expected to face any charges.

MN-MOM, not to get preachy but I bet the elderly gentlemen is very shook-up about what transpired. My prayers are with him. I just dont understand what kind of coward would break into his house but then again there are lots of things I dont understand.

Rob, you can replace bats, catchers equipment, etc, but not gloves - Especially catchers gloves. That had to hurt!

ITs, I have placed my order for the trunk monkey. The one I got kinda looks like Rocky Balboa
