Just as long as it is better weather than what we had for our scrimmage w/Dunanville this year I will be happy..........sorry don't know anything about A&M Cons. I will be there cheering on Marcus except on Thursday, work might get in the way, but I think I might be getting a cold come Thursday morning

With PLANO EAST playin so well is there any reason
for any other teams to show up.

Not really. But, I would think a few teams that are in it will show up. Who knows, maybe the umpires will decide the outcome.

You guys are funny -- I can speak for our team (this time) -- we will be more than honored if we can just win a game or two. Remember, we are just hoping to be able to catch and throw (or vice versa).

I'm picking Poteet or Rockwall.

Anyone know if Duncanville has a tarp? Looks like the rain will move through pretty quick, but could delay the start if there's no tarp. Just wondering! Should be a fun weekend with some good teams playing some great games.

Not much offense for either team on a very windy day in Duncanville. Chilly for the fans, even with all that shelter. It should calm down for the later games.

Moseley threw a good game. Jared Butler came in, pitched great and got the win. Josh Beard and Taylor Stetzer hit a big fly each. Big sophomore came in for the last 2 innings, 3 up 3 down both innings with 5 K's to finish them off. Off to a great start in the tournament. Hope we can continue it into tomorrow night against a very good FM Marcus group. I was very impressed with Duncanville's stadium. First time there and it is incredible.

I was assuming we play FM Marcus, but now that I think about it, there were a bunch of Poteet players and fans there watching the game for several innings. We may be playing Poteet? I never asked anyone who won their game. Someone enlighten me please!!!

Anyone have any idea on starting pitching for todays games?With district games next week it will be a challenge for coaches.May come down to the battle of the bull pen.

Plano East will probably start Brady Hamar against Duncanville at 5 (Emens is still out). It looks like Duncanville is on a nice early season roll....I hope PE can compete.

Clint Owen started for Poteet, then Westover. Nowell finished up.

Clinard, Butler and Lunday pitched for Rockwall.

I'm getting this second hand though, so not 100% sure about the Poteet guys. My daughter had a SB game in Tyler tonight and went there instead.

I happened to drop in at the Poteet/Rockwall game. Wasnt a very big offensive game. Owen was pretty solid for 6 innings only allowing 3 hits. Clinard also pitched 6 innings only allowing 2 hits. It looked like Rockwall had a some defensive struggles having 5 errors.

Congratulaions to the Pirates on their success early this season!!!!!!!!!! I think they are now 10-1!!! Awesome job guys!!

Looks like Poteet may take things a step further this year and get to Austin!! They are a really good team. Pretty young too! The new coach stepped in and has done a great job. Congratulations to all associated with the program. They have a great team on the softball side as well. Heather Fortenberry (pitcher) is a great girl and deserving of her scholarship to UTA. Great job Poteet Pirates, on the boys and girls side!!

District starts Tuesday -- it should be a tight race this year. Go Panthers!

Was Panther Son able to play tonight? Poteet is really good.

He pinch hit....but we anticipate his return on Tuesday for district game 1 against TCHS. It's been tough for him...missing 7 games. With the exception of next weekend's non-district game at Cedar Hill -- they all count from here on out.

Poteet does the little things well -- their leadoff hitter reached base in all 7 innings. They move runners and play solid defense. They are young at several positions but have nice senior leadership on the mound. Arietta pitched a good game last night. The kids have adjusted well to their new coach.

I picked Poteet or Rockwall earlier knowing how good they were playing and that PE has a few injuries, including one that has side-lined the starting 2B. Marcus is also a very strong group and Coach Rombach has done a nice job with Duncanville thus far. All in all, it was a good tournament -- despite a $100K scoreboard that didn't work! And how do you run out of food at the Art Blair Classic???

It wouldn't be just to end the weekend without mentioning that the umpires were..........never mind. (that's for you Kermit)

I know you wouldn't ever dog an umpire but everyone needs to know they donate their services for the Art Blair Classic. Usually the best in the business out there for that very reason alone.

Swingdoc -- you know I don't blame umps for game results -- they weren't a factor in our loss last night.....but even the best have occasional "off" days. (and I was just poking fun at previous posts)
