I know the NCAA changed their policy on text messages, but does it apply to email as well?

My son recently exchanged an email or two with the coach of a major D1, then registered for their catchers camp as he suggested in the email.

Then, days later, he got a letter saying that coachers were prohibited from e-mailing prospects until September 1 of their junior year.

I never saw this restriction when the text message issue was being debated and decided. So what is the current status of e-mail?

Not 100% sure but I believe that the following is the rule.

Prior to Sept 1 of their JR year schools may contact with camp info and brochures. Only after Sept 1 of JR year can school actively recruit with mail communication i.e. questionaires and contact as a prospect.
