if you have not had contact with a school and are contacting them for the first time, i would strongly recommend direct mail, the old fashioned type. coaches receive so many e-mails such that if they don't know you it's going to get lost in the shuffle. if you have established a relationship with a coach and he knows you, then i can see e-mail working.
We've done both, even with the same coaches. Sometimes it's a full letter, sometimes it's a quick, personal e-mail when they are just checking in/up, et al. We always respond in kind. So far, so good!
My son mailed the first correspondence and then once he was contacted, which was generally by email then all follow up was via email. The second we did both, and made a PDF of the letter. After communication lines are set up then 100% email.
My son did everything through email. Even sent a link to his video by email. Almost all of the coaches that he was in contact with were very good with email.
With technology the way it is today I never really gave any consideration to mailing regular mail. The coaches today have GOT to be savvy enough to manuever through email etc.
When you block a person, they can no longer invite you to a private message or post to your profile wall. Replies and comments they make will be collapsed/hidden by default. Finally, you'll never receive email notifications about content they create or likes they designate for your content.
Note: if you proceed, you will no longer be following .
