With ED #1 deadline coming up next week for most schools, I'm curious to know what the back up plan is for those who are going that route, especially among those applying to highly selective D3 colleges.
Just had a brief talk about it with my wife and we agree that the decision is 100% up to the kid. My take is that he can A) rely 100% on the coach getting him and if that fails to happen, then he can go to the local JC and play there if he wishes, or B) expend the minimal effort required for the Cal State application, in which case he can choose not to play or to attempt to walk on at one of the D2 programs.
I'm fine with either, but I'm pretty sure he'll go with A.
I'm not even going to suggest C) do some other LAC apps and/or the University of California system app because I know he won't want to put in that work, and I don't blame him. But if the unthinkable were to happen then we can look at D) scramble to find another baseball and/or academic home if he finds himself out in the cold on December 15th.
