Brandon McIlwain a 2016 out of PA has announced he is enrolling early at South Carolina. McIlwain is both a football and baseball commit, so it isn't clear to me if he plans to join the baseball team this semester or go through spring football. Has anyone ever seen a kid sign in November, enroll in January and play that spring in baseball?

Not sure about seen it before but another PG AA is doing the same at Dallas Baptist this spring. They also had a top player reclassify and enroll in the fall early.
Trend I think we will see continue for the right kids because of the draft. Allows a kid to enter a four year school and be draft eligible again one year sooner.
I guess we will know soon if the player mentioned above is on the South Carolina roster in the spring. A quick google search listed 43 on the 2015 fall roster, including 12 freshman and 8 from JC. Just a tad crowded.
I have seen players from around my area leave HS after the Christmas break and attend college for football. Gets them a head start for spring football and in the classroom.
At the D1 level if a kid commits in the fall chances are there isn't a roster spot available in the spring.
I think in both of these cases they were committed prior just enrolled one year sooner. I think one of the walk ons in these cases would be how the roster spot gets freed up but just a guess.
