So how do you think Little Elm and The Colony will do in the new district.
It's really hard to say in my opinion. You've got a 3A team moving up and a 5A team moving down. I do know that LE has a new coach who knows alot about the game and will bring some enthusiasm to the program. Not that they didn't have it before, I really don't know, but Matt Buettner will get the most he can out of each and every player he has.
I don't have a clue about The Colony and won't attempt to offer anything about them.

In past years our freshman played them and said they were pretty weak. Now that's freshman... but I never hear much else about the Colony.
Would most consider 9-4A a tougher or weaker district around the metroplex?
I just couldn't stay out of this one, so I will offer my opinion:
North is obviously the team to beat. Yes, lost a number of seniors, but also had a lot of underclassmen that saw playing time... and a couple of move-ins.
McKinney is still an unknown in my mind. 2 years ago, they were the team to beat (on paper). They didn't even make the playoffs. Last year, they were young and had trouble generating runs and did not make the playoffs. They will be hungry this year. Losing Lensing was about 1/2 of their run production. They do have pitchers coming back that have a lot of experience, but unproven is their defense and hitting. If they get that going, they will be a force.
Boyd is very young. I suspect that Kinard will be one of the district pitchers but have no idea on others. They do have some sophomores that have played on a very competitive team for years. In my opinion, they will make some noise in the district, but for Boyd, I think pitching is a big question mark.
Lake Dallas is going to be very competitive. I don't know a whole lot about the makeup of their current team, but over the last couple of years, they gave everyone a good game and won many of them. They have a new coach with a lot of knowledge. I think they will be in the thick of it.
Frisco is a mystery to me. They didn't compete with North last year in either game I saw. They were a little lite on pitching and hitting last year. If they have beefed up those areas, they could be a playoff team.
Frisco Centennial was much improved last year. Early in the year, they had a spark about them but that faded as the year went on. I think they lost a pitcher last year and then fell on tough times. Once again, if they have the pitching this year, they will win their share of district games.
Little Elm is a team I know nothing about the individual ball players. But as OP said, Matt will have them ready to play and they will be in most every game. You can count on that.
Colony has not been known as a baseball school for at least 10 years. Yes, they have moved down in classification, but I think they are going to find it to be a tough district.
As usual, I tried to be very non-committal on my assessments. I really think if North stays focused and doesn't look ahead, they take the district. After that, I see 4 teams competing for the next 2 spots with those being McKinney, Lake Dallas, Frisco, and Boyd.
Just my 2 cents worth.

Well said. Good assessments no doubt.
I do agree on the pitching being iffy at Boyd beyond Kinard. They do have a kid there that could make a difference if he can keep his grades up. He's been at McKinney the last couple of years, but hasn't been able to pitch because of his lack of effort in the classroom. He has some nasty stuff, but just can't seem to stay on the field. If he's able to pitch this year, he could make a big difference for them.

But will the young bucks at Boyd be able to hit at the varsity level, they will need runs as well to back up there pitching.
I really don't have a clue about that, because I honestly don't know who all is @ Boyd. I would have to say they will probably be pretty s.c.r.a.p.p.y, no matter who they are. They will learn that from their head coach!

I would say it is a good solid district that will be very competitive.
Does Beasley at Little Elm play baseball, or just football and basketball. Very good athlete
I think Cole plays baseball too.
I grew up playing football with Cole back in the day and I saw him at the basketball game the other night and asked him about their baseball team and if he was going to play this year (I had heard he was quitting baseball) Cole told me he had shoulder problems and was done with baseball and would stick with football and basketball...Also told me LE's baseball team isn't real good but who knows.
OP, I'm curious as to what that "something" is. We can only speculate:
(1) Long lost brother of 1st baseman enrolled in school this week and is expected to dominate at the plate and on the bump.
(2) NT Association of umpires have decided to be unusually biased towards North this coming season due to current/past/future relationships.
(3) In an unusual move, your new coach has decided to sport all orange uniforms thinking that opposing teams will be wary of playing the Celina football team.
Don't get me wrong....I think North will roll out an excellent team this year. I just have a great deal of respect for the contributions made by last year's seniors.

I was referring to my son! That's why I added the and the
He's a little overrated if you ask me .
HA! I think a junior pitching throwing around 90 never could hurt!
Disclaimer: you know what respect I have for your son.

TGUF,
I think Boyd will struggle at the varsity level this year, but they have a real good class of younger players from what I have heard. Kinard is pretty crafty and will have some success on the mound, but after that, I think they will struggle against most teams out there from a pitching standpoint. Don't underestimate what Coach Milam can get out of them. He is a great coach and knows how to start a new program with his experiences at North. His first team without seniors was in the running for a playoff spot until the last game, and then he won 3 straight district championships after the first year. He did have some talent for sure, but he knew how to get the most out of them and they respected him, which is half the battle.
I don't expect Boyd to be in the running for a playoff spot this year, but give them another year or so and they will compete for one I think. Just because I don't expect them not to be in the playoffs doesn't mean they won't though!!
Here's how I see the district panning out, without much knowledge at all of most teams. Just a guess is all:
McKinney North 13-1
McKinney 10-4
Lake Dallas 9-5
Frisco 8-6
Frisco Centennial 7-7
Little Elm 4-10
McKinney Boyd 3-11
The Colony 2-12
I was pretty close on the outcome of this district, but go to TGUF's prediction on page 1 of this thread and he hit it right on the head. He guessed the district race almost exactly how it ended up! His new name should be Kreskin!!
Here's how the district ended up:
McKinney North 12-3
McKinney 11-4
Frisco 10-4
Frisco Centennial 7-7
McKinney Boyd 7-7
Lake Dallas 5-9
The Colony 5-9
Little Elm 0-14
Looks like 10-4A is the best in Region 2 this year. HP vs. Poteet.
