If a 2008 in the midst of the recruitment process decides that he is going to do a post-graduate year, does he become a 2009 for purposes of recruiting/contact rules or can he let coaches know his plans and remain in contact? I've tried researching this question and found nothing remotely helpful...
I'm not out of order! You're out of order! The whole freakin' system is out of order! You want the truth? You want the truth?! You can't HANDLE the truth!

I noticed that this question never got answered, so I figured I would bump the thread and add some more inquiries about the whole PG year...

My son turned 16 in September this year, his Junior year. We moved to a new area this year, and every other kid he's met at his school with a similar birthday is a Sophmore - the only Sophmore in the baseball program, in fact, is older than he is.

He is a 5'-11" 135 lb. LHP/OF - With some growing left to do, hopefully a little in the height department and more signifigantly on the weight side. He had decent success playing on the varsity this year as a regular starting pitcher and hitting 2nd most games. He has done OK academically - with a 3.2 GPA and a 28 on the ACT.

At this point, we are weighing our options and considering a PG year during which he can gain some extra experience, and experience some physical growth. What are the thoughts on this board about;

1.) The OP question regarding informing people about his intent to take a PG year and how to identify himself during showcases

2.) The value of the PG year in general. IS it worth doing, or just a waste of time?

3.) Some suggestions on good places to go for a PG year, boarding/day attendance private shools, or some other non-school based approach...geographically we have some flexibilty for the right situation.

Thanks in advance for your collective thoughts on the subject...
