My son was originally diagnosed with tendonitis in his throwing elbow and we went through the usual PT. Said he was still experiencing pain so we went to a sports orthopedic doctor. Long story short, he wound up having a broken elbow which he played almost 2 months with. He has been shut down for about two months now while missing all of his fall season. Returned to the orthopedic last week and he said that he could play, but if it hurts then stop. He seems to have no pain when swinging but still has pain throwing. My question is, should we try to salvage some of the fall season or should I shut him down completely? He just started his Jr year and is a 2013 graduate.
Thanks for your thoughts.

I agree, shut him down in the fall. But I would also get a second opinion and explore further why the pain is still there. You don't want to shut down all fall, only to find out that there is something else the first guy didn't see and have to miss his whole Jr. year of HS when it could have been dealt with now.
