I'm gonna go out on a limb here. I'm a 2015 right now and I have only really been contacted by a few college coaches, so this summer is really big for me. I'm going to a lot of tournaments and a PG Showcase this summer so I already have a plan. But I'm not sure About emailing coaches, should I just email the Coaches on my list now and introduce myself so I can get on their radar? Should I provide them with the HS and Summer Schedule? Is this a good time for it even though they're going on with their season? Also should I ask what events and tournaments they're going to be attending? Any helpful tips are appreciated! Also I'm sort of new to the recruiting process and I don't want to get left behind.

JoJo,

First, congrats on having a plan for your recruiting!  And you are asking the right types of questions and there is plenty of advice and guidance here from a lot of tenured members who have navigated through this process.

I would definitely start reaching out to your target schools.  Email them and introduce yourself, send them a schedule and if you have a short video email them the link.  You can also start making calls to them as well.  They can email you back but they cannot call you back at this point.  Goal is as exactly as you have laid out  -  get on their radar screen so they come see you play at these events this summer.  They are involved in their own seasons right now, but the recruiting coordinator still makes some time to keep tabs on potential recruits.

Best of luck!

Send a short email introducing yourself. Explain your interest the college and the baseball program. Ask what showxases you can get your skills in front if them. If you have throwing velocity or foot speed that would create interest, mention it. In addition to the head coach email the assistant in charge of recruiting. You can get this info by calling the ADs office if it's not part of his title or profile listed online.

As a followup question to this answer, when contacting the HC should the area of interested study and grades even be mentioned or should that info go to an assistant of recruiting coordinator?

I recommend sending your info to all schools that interest you.  IMO, the biggest key is to make each email unique to the school.  Provide some real reasons why you have interest in THAT school and THAT baseball program.  Make sure you keep track of all your correspondences.  Promote whatever you can about yourself that would appeal to them.  I think videos of hitting are always important, but they need to be SUPER short and should be from a game.  Anything over 20 seconds is too long.  Three 10 second videos of you hitting would be great.  Send them your HS schedule and your travel plans for the summer.  Ask them if they have a need for your position.  IMO, finding out if they have a need is extremely important.  If they are not looking for a 2B or catcher, then move on to the next option.  Grades and test scores can be a deciding factor for some schools and can get you academic money at private schools.  Some coaches don't care a whole lot about school work, but they don't want you to struggle.

RJM is correct...sometimes you have to do a little searching for the email addresses. The coaches page and the roster don't always include emails, but if you go to the athletics homepage....not the baseball page, there is almost always a "Staff Directory" listing that shows every email.
