Hokieone, I was tempted to write something about Hokies trying to drive in a city, but decided on a rare moment of self-restraint Cool

Not baseball feedback, but my twin daughters, both seniors in HS now, just toured Emory in August (even in the heat wave) and absolutely adored it, both of them. I also heard vague references to hot guys Wink One is very urban and social as well as bright, and the other a true intellectual who was particularly excited that the CDC is right across the street from campus, and it appealed to both of them. Our next door neighbor is a junior there and he loves it too. Fabulous facilities thanks in large part to Coke.
Double Eagle... Here are a few of the tourist sites in no particular order:

The Georgia Aquarium
Stone Mountain Park
High Museum
CNN Center
Martin Luther King Center
for Social Justice and birth home.
The World of Coke
Lennox Square
The Atlanta Zoo (The celebrated
Panda, Mai Lin(sp?) is having
her 1-year old celebration today.)
Six Flags

Can anyone suggest sites in Atlanta to see when on campus. I will be on campus in the fall with my son and we wanted to take advantage of seeing Atlanta while we are there.

I'm so jealous!! We're from GA and I used to work at Emory. Loved it!! My son went to their Nike camp this year. Don't know the head coach, but the Assistant Coach, Solomon, is really great. Fantastic program, great school. They like my son, but I'll have to win the lottery to get him there! Tell Coach Solomon hello for us!

Walk up Stone Mountain if you have time. Take a tour of Turner Field and see the putting green in the clubhouse. My husband and son did this for me one mother's day a few years ago - they know me well Smile ESPN Zone in Buckhead is fun - great burgers. The Beluga whales in the aquarium are definitely worth seeing. Also Fernbank museum. I doubt the Braves will still be playing Frown but you might also see a Falcons game. Tickets shouldn't be too hard to get...
Access Atlanta
is a good source.

And, yes, if you work in development (fundraising, etc.) at Emory, you can get FIRED for drinking a Pepsi on campus.

Yes, also, driving is awful. I had a 38 mile commute that took me 2 hours one way.

Holden,

I'm an Emory Alumni, too (Class of '74C)!! I visited the school again this summer when my youngest attended the WWBA. I generally try to stop by when I'm in town just to see what's new. Large parts of it are hardly recognizable to me...the constant construction is amazing.

kb-I'm Class of 79C. I don't recognize the place. Much, much nicer than when we were there. And now there's a baseball team, of course. No way I could get in today with the grades and test scores I had way back when....
I live down the street from Emory so I can attest to the vibrant neighborhood, which will soon be improved by a redesigned village area with more restaurants and shops. The coach is a great guy, the whole program is classy. Loved rooting for the local boys during the DIII World Series. Sons have attended various camps there over the years. Academically excellent.

Pepsi? That's a nono.
talked with Emory at Headfirst this summer. We were interested in them becuase of location, academics , and the baseball program. They were honest in that they were looking for pitching and the "left side of the infield" and my son is a centerfielder so it was not a viable option. But, the staff is great and academics are top notch. every coaching staff that we spoke with at the D3 level this summe and fall had nothing but good stuff to say about the Emory program. Gotta have the grades to get in.
