Empire State Games question, should I?

are the ESG even worth it anymore? with a majority of the talent not able to play do to restrictions by summer coaches, my HS coach said dont even bother playing, but a friend of mine said definatly play cause it was one of the best baseball experiences he ever had.
what are your thoughts

in order to tryout and play for the ESG team id have to miss around 3 games
