Just wanted to see how players at colleges are doing, or have done in their end of Fall scrimmages. We leave tomorrow to watch son LA for a three game series. He was excited, as he was chosen to start at 2nd base.Very excited.Fall has been hard, lots of work.
I just want to say again, I tip my hat to the many college baseball players,it is a tough road.16 units, study hall 5-6 hours a week, 20 hours of baseball, classes, and workouts and conditioning.
My heart goes out to any players who do not make the roster, as you as well have worked hard also.We still have 41 guys on sons team, so waiting to see how that turns out.
Best of luck to all the posters kids.Lets hope and pray that our boys make the team, stay qualified academically, have great Springs, no injuries. And most of all have some fun, because you have worked hard.

Younggunson had their fall series. It went 5 games with his team ultimately losing on relief pitching. They had LOTS of rain this fall that shut them down with scheduled games/scrimmages so not a whole lot of pitching was done.....sighs.

Son had a pretty good fall according to him and what feedback he got back from the coach.

Just think....just over almost 2 months away and it begins!
Fall ball finished a couple of weeks ago for son's team. Wet weather made it tough to get in all the workouts but his mother and I were able to get up there for parents weekend and see two scrimmages. Overall son had a strong fall at and behind the plate. He had his one on one meeting with the head coach last week and was told he will be the starting catcher heading into spring. Great news for him and it means we will be burining up all our frequent flyer miles. It will make all these business trips a lot more tolerable though.
This was my son's last year of "fallball." Watching him over 4-years of college you can really see the changes in maturity. From his first year when all the effort was "will I make the team;" sophomore year "will I start;" junior year "not quite a team leader;" to this year "been here before, let's get ready to win."

It is fun to see your son grow from being insecure with the next step to one of leadership and confidence. Equally fun is meeting all the new freshman parents with the normal questions and concerns as their son's start their journey through college.
Fall Ball ended over a month ago for my son. I was able to travel the 2500 miles for Parents Day and see the final Fall Ball game (combo of frequent flier miles and a birthday present). As others have stated, it was real thrill to see him in his college uni for the first time. He pitched one inning - struggled at first, then struck out the 3, 4 and 5 hitters from the Blue team (projected starting line up for the Spring). Seeing the smile on his face as he walked on the field was something special.
