Just got home from Hoover for SEC Baseball Championships. Son went to the bullpen every game and pitched 1 inning against Alabama in run rule game to close out and 1 inning in the Championship. Great week for him and us. Gave up a HR in championship but if you are going to give it up do it to the MVP for tournament.
People here and in life say you can't live through your kids but I somewhat disagree. I have been blessed to have been some great places, done some great things, and seen my three boys help me fulfill a lot of bucket list things and this week at Hoover was one of them. Never been and well worth the trip even if you don't have a kid playing. But to see your kid compete in front of standing room only SEC Championship game against #1 team in the nation is incredible. When he committed to UT, they were not real good. His goal was hopefully to play in Hoover one time, a regional, and wildest dreams a super and CWS. They lost in Championship yesterday and will host a regional and if they win a super. I was going home Saturday night because I didn't want to miss preaching on Sunday but my leadership called and said you preach family all the time. The importance of quality time and being the dad and mom God called us to be. Your job tomorrow is to be dad not pastor. I'm glad they talked me into staying. i could have seen it on tv but there was something special about seeing kid on the mound at Hoover for championship Sunday. I say all this to remind all of us to enjoy the ride. It is gone so fast. There might be more Sundays at Hoover but who knows. it is college baseball.
