Anyone have experience or knowledge about Epsom salt baths? One of my teammates mentioned it helped with his arm soreness, but I would like to find out more about it before trying it. Thanks-
My catcher son is also a great believer for general muscle soreness. It may be the salt, it may be the relaxing in a warm bath....either way it's good, safe, and using epsom salts won't turn up in a urine test .
I recommend Epsom salt baths too many of my older patients. Magnesium is a muscle relaxant, so it is especially powerful for muscle aches. I have also found that if it dries your skin, you can add a cap full of oil (olive oil, etc) into the bath. Just a suggestion
Growing up we used epsom salts for any malady...the "salt" part is good for healing infections and yes, it does provide a soothing soak for aching muscles...I do not believe if you rinse or don't has any bearing on its effectiveness although I suspect it may feel a little like getting out of the ocean with salt on you...your skin may feel tight but to each his own....as far as olive oil goes...if you bathe with any oil...baby, olive or mineral(which by the way are great moisterizures) bear in mind you are literally well oiled as is the floor of the tub...so take great care when exiting the tub or you will be "slip, slidin' away"
