My son has had a pretty good sophmore season maintaining a 1.9 ERA, 1.6 strike outs per inning and 1 BB per 2 innings. Not great, but pretty good.
On Friday, he had a miserable outing. He came in and walked the first four batters and then gave up a grand slam before being removed without recording a single out. How do I calculate this into his ERA when he didn't record a single out? Maybe it doesn't matter since this this one outing may blow his ERA up so badly it's pointless to keep calculating?
As a pitchers parent, you sure have to learn to take the good with the bad and stay posative. If nothing else my son is learning some tough life lessons on the mound.
