Fielders choice, and no error on F4.
thats what i had thought- in high school ball they seem to be making every effort to protect pitchers eras at the expense of the fielders
Did the batter/runner advance to 2B when the ball got past the 1st baseman? If so, FC, then E4 on B/R advance to 2B.
colo5dad.....good point... If the throw is so wild as to allow the runner to advance an error can be charged to F4......however with no advance no error....

no advance- there was actually a clean hop for 1st baseman- but it was his 1st game in over a week

What do you mean by a "clean hop"?! It sounds like the second baseman threw the ball in the dirt and is lucky that his teammates were able to corral the ball before the batter could advance to second base. His teammates saved him from getting an error that he probably deserved.

c. ...if a player drops a thrown ball, when by holding it he would have completed a double (or triple) play, it is an error.
OBR 10.14c NOTE: When a fielder muffs a thrown ball which, if held, would have completed a double play or triple play, charge an error to the fielder who drops the ball and credit an assist to the fielder who made the throw.

R1, R3, 1 out..SS gets force at 2B, throws wide of 1B, R3 scores. Can you assume the DP here and award an error to SS and unearned run?
