I do know that Evansville has been a top-notch program for years. Under the helm of both Coach Brownlee(now at ISU), and now Head Coach Dave Schrage (formally of NIU).
Son origially signed NLI out of High School to play for Schrage at NIU, and Schrage took HC position at Evansville (son also recruited by Brownlee at Evansville), 3 weeks before school's start. IMMEDIATELY asked for NIU's release, and was denied.
ALL RECRIUTS- remember that your NLI is with the UNIVERSITY and not with the coach you want to play for!!
Anyway, after going the JUCO route (batting 2nd in the nation in his division), again signing D1 with UIC (leading hitter, starting CF'r)- life is good again, but a lesson learned.
P.S. He still got his first D1 at-bat (a hit@leadoff) in front of Coach Schrage when UIC played at Evansville for thier 2005 opening game. Pleasant surprise.
UE is a very small private school that just built a brand new on-campus baseball field about 7 years ago.

Before that they played at the old Bosse Field where most of the movie "A League Of Their Own" was filmed.

Excellent top notch academic school second to none in the whole state. Very low student/professor ratio. Very expensive tuition but well worth it in the long run!!

I got a bachelor degree there in 1984 and a master degree in 1991. Didn't get the chance to play baseball at UE back then but there progam is LIGHT years ahead of what they were back then.
