Miss the chance to run on the field on Friday nights in Texas?!!! - Not a chance!

They made a movie about it - "Friday Night Lights".

As much as I love baseball, I am glad that both of my sons had the chance to play football in high school.

Interestingly, one son was a defensive end and I used to love watching him crunch quarterbacks. He is a DE on the Army (West Point) football team.

The younger son WAS a quarterback and I used to cringe everytime he took a blindside hit from the backside.

Funny how your perspective changes depending on which side of the fence you are on.
Speaking for my son, he only play's the sport that's in Season since he entered High School.. Our Coach at Boyd( Milam) wants guy's to be focused on the sport that is in Season.. Coach Drake
( football) has been great about supporting the kid's that also want to play Baseball... We have a good thing at Boyd.. They just want multi sport athletes to give it all to the sport that they are playing at the current time..

I've heard the horror stories about kid's taking flack for being multi sport kid's... Coaches playing tug of war with them.. I think that's a bunch of ****..
Although my son would love to play both, football will get the nod for the next few months. It makes no sense for him to work all week on football and then go out on a Sunday and try to play a baseball game or two. As one GM who I respect very much told me "This is not pee-wee football anymore. At the JV/Varsity level and a major 5A school, he needs to be completely focused or he is going to get hurt or run the risk of not performing to the best of his ability." He will work on hitting/throwing on the side to stay fresh, but that is it. He will also come in to the summer bigger/stronger!

IT'S A GREAT DAY TO BE A PANTHER !!
