I know not all schools (actually only a few) post a roster in the fall. We had a player from my son's HS commit to a program (D1) that does post a fall roster, however this team's posted roster only has 25 players on it. They did include a few freshmen on the roster as well, but not the kid from my son's school.

I know this is wild speculation, but if a team posts a roster under the 35 man limit, and even under the 28 scholarship player limit, would you assume the players listed are likely "counters" and that the rest of the players there this fall are all competing for those remaining "walk-on" spots?

No idea if the kid from my son's school had a scholarship offer or not, just know he committed Fall of his Jr year to this school and is a very good ballplayer who did not perform terribly well on his summer collegiate league team.

Has that roster deleted the outgoing seniors and not added incoming freshmen?

This roster shows "redshirt seniors" and seniors. I believe this is a legit roster for this year. Guys who were juniors on 2018 roster are listed as seniors on this early 2019 roster. last year's redshirt juniors are listed as redshirt seniors.

I would agree with 9AND7DAD. My son's B10 school lists all the freshmen and JUCO transfers for the year and has updated the years, etc. But with not much else for parents to do, I like to speculate about how they decided to give my son the number of a player who got drafted this year as a junior and hope that it was cause they think he's that good!
