I'm pretty sure a good chunk of those dates are quiet/ dead periods where college coaches can't leave campus/ have contact with players. I think the fall program is a great idea but kids should know what they're getting.

Reggies,

Yes the sparks are apart of the Cangy fall league. They are going to broken into two teams and will be traveling to different schools like Louisville, NIU, Kentucky, Illinois, and Iowa. 1 team a weekend will travel and the other team will stay back and do the fall league activities and play games in the fall league.
then the 2009/2010 kids will go to Fort Myers in October and the top kids will go to Jupiter for the Perfect Game WWBA championship.
We are going to select an allstar team from the Fall league and they will go to the Perfect Game Kernals tourny in Iowa on the 22nd of October.

Nice headphones also. lol If you have any questions about this stuff or anything else, please dont hesistate to contact me.
lots of leagues that charge way to much $$, find ones that are inexpensive. Good legion fall leagues everywhere. Some of these guys have you all snowed, pay big bucks to play in their fall leagues and showcases and this will somehow help your kid get a scholarship or drafted, sorry that isn't the case in most circumstances and you will have a very thin wallet when it's over. If your kid is really good he shouldnt have to pay anything! Coaches should be inviting him to play and there are plenty out there.
Just my two cents, Why should you have to pay to be seen by scouts or colleges? This site should encourage parents and players to seek out alternative ways to get their kids exposure. The endless promotion of expensive showcases is troubling. How about listing events that dont cost an arm and a leg? Coach steeley what does Cangy fall league cost? PBR do you pay the recruiters to come or do they volunteer their weekends? What are the kids getting for their $$. I thinks it's wrong to take money from a lower ability kid who shows up at these every weekend, and there are showcases every weekends or so it seems? How many kids redceived a scholarship offer directly related to their appearance a t a PBR showcase? them are some numbers Id like to see?
bergenschamp: you must spend a lot of time in front of the mirror. This site has been a great tool for me to find about and do my own due diligence as to deciding if said camp/tryout/showcase is a wise investment. The other option is google or eteamz. I think as our kids go through high school, parents get a pretty good sense of where thier kid is on the talent continuum. I just wonder what your real ax to grind is?

Bergenhschamp, I wasn't with you on the Sean Duncan, PBR thing, not sure what your goal was there, but I do tend to agree with the quote above, particularly from the standpoint of a HS coach who eventually will be spoken to by the scouts or recruiters about the ability levels of these athletes on a consistent basis.
Let's all take our chill pills boys....Bergenchamp, what are you Popeye??? Nice quote man "I thinks it's wrong to take money from a lower ability kid who shows up at these every weekend" Get a hold of yourself here, parents should be the ones held responsible for carting, how do you say it, the lower ability kids to these events.

Like noted by others on this site, you as a parent need to first understand the ability and the desire of your kid as it relates to playing ball at the higher levels, then decide if and/or not to attend these showcases. It is your dime and dance floor buddy.

I am out!!
nO AXE TO GRIND, just want to get my point across I am trying to change my name to Popeye or Papeye like poppi! I like it. Here's what I would like to see, kid shows up to PBR or anyother showcase that charges, he has the ability and he looks like a prospect fine they take his money and off he goes, he has the right 60 times, major league arm, has ML power potenytial whatever. Now if a kid clearly isn't a prospect, they discreetly give the kid and his parents a refund and an explanation. Like a wakeup call, quit wasting your money. I do have an axe to grind. I was at a showcase one of those hyped here and I saw many kids who woyuld struggle in Babe Ruth league, slipping on the companies jersey, going through the motions, I just felt bad for them. ca,ll me a bad guy, but im really not. i think there is a better way, that;'s probably why I get in trouble so offten!
Sultiger what does this league cost ? sounds like a good deal. the smart money is on this league

I know that a lot of my sons friends and teammates are attending the PBR fall program at Oakton that 34/33 mentioned. With the various colleges that will be there , its sure to be a beneficial experience for the players.

I know its kind of late, but something came up and I currently need help finding a team to play for during the fall. I live in the Northwest Suburbs and am looking for a team who goes to some showcase tournaments etc... Played for the Norwood Blues last fall and this past summer. Play OF/LHP and I'm 17, 6'2 180. Please PM me if you can help, any info would be greatly appreciated. Let me know if you need more info.

Thanks
