I'd love to hear some of thoughts and opinions people have on their respective teams from across the metroplex.

What type of season do you expect? Better? Worse?

What needs to happen for you to have success?

What about your team will suprise others? Feel free to add on anything else as well.

I've been out of the country for a long time, and I cant wait to get back to watching Texas HS baseball!
Always remember: put God first.

Okay, I will take a stab at this.

Arlington Lamar will have a pretty good team coming back next season. Returning Starters: 5 1B: Kyle Arnsberg. Most on this forum know about him. Big, Strong kid, will also be the #1 or #2 starter. 3B/SS: Patrick Duncan. This kid is not as well known but I think he will be by the end of this season. Duncan was 1st team All-District 3B who may move over to SS this season. Duncan was in the top 10 in the DFW area in Batting Avg last Spring, hitting almost 500 in district. He will also serve as the closer. 3B/DH: Sean Lewis. Sean was a force at the plate last Spring batting in the 380 range over the course of the Spring. His stats were very good but could have been better but he battled several injuries during the season. LF: Tanner Buechele. Fast for his size. He shared time as a starter in the outfield. Will be a solid stick and will steal some bases for Lamar. RF: Parker Robinson. Parker was a part time starter in RF. Parker has a strong arm and is deceptively quick. Parker will also serve as the #3 or #4 starter and or pitch in relief during district play. #1 or #2 starting pitcher is Shane Laronde. Will most likely play in the field this Spring when not pitching. Throws really hard being clocked by scouts at our games last year in the mid to upper 80's. Will need to be more consistent this season for Lamar to advance futher in the playoffs. Biggest Holes: C, CF, 2B...Lamar has some good talent coming up from the JV. If they can find a C, CF and throw some pitchers into the mix, they will be very competitive this Spring and hopefully will advance further in the playoffs that this past season. Martin, Mansfield, Summit, Arlington, will all be tough.
Lamar, Thanks for the synopsis. As a former Vikes baseballer (mid-70's!) it's fun to hear about their prospects. Also know some former players (actually their dads) and some of the current ones you addressed as well. So I'll keep a close eye on the developments this Spring. Thanks again.

11's, You're killin' me. You are the biggest sandbagger on the board. Every season you down play the talent over there (including 11's!) and every season they are spectacular (including 11!) Good luck to him at the next level. I'm sure you'll enjoy watching his successes there as well. We'll keep an eye on him from afar.

Northwest:
Our "Daddy-Coach" wouldn't even allow the team's only 3 year returning letterman to play in a recent fall ball game. We only have 7 returnees to begin with. 5 regular starters: CF, OF/IF, 1B/P, 3B/P P/OF/C. Occasional Starter: 3B/2B. Returnee: IF-Injured. Some are relatively strong. They need to hit more. The newbies are, well new. We'll see what happens. The new coach comes with an impressive resume (at least in the W-L category.)

He would love to. I have wondered where those "inflated" HR numbers for FM Marcus have been coming from. Wink

Besides, rumor has it you have no spots available in the field.

I have a 13 YO that will attend Byron Nelson HS and is a LH hitting, RH throwing C/OF. Tell me of this coach you speak of that may apply there.

I've been to a couple of Fall games...if you can call them that...I have no idea what the coach will put on the field in the spring.

The Fall effort just seems to be without any real direction. But I know thw coach sees a lot more than I do.

Coppell has a great core and will draw a few major league scouts to their games.

However, who are the role players? Every great team needs them.

How will the pitching line-up?

There are questions that will be answered. I have confidence in Coach English to put the best 9 on the field.

But 6-5A will be a dog fight especially in a 6 team district, there will be no nights off.

My gut says that will prepare the Cowboys for a long, deep run in the playoffs. But can this team make it to Round Rock?

I know whatever the outcome these fine young men will leave it all on the field.
