Just got word that the West - Farragut game is being moved to Farragut. A water line burst underneath West's field on Wednesday and the field won't be ready in time for Friday's 5 p.m. matchup.

That adds an extra 1/2 hour to my commute tomorrow from downtown.

I assume that means the 4/16 game will be moved back to West.

I called my KnoxVegas bookie and got my bet down. I understand there is a great deal of activity. The spread was 2 1/2 at noon, but that could change as most of the bets are going on West HS to pull the upset.

The Skybox crew at Farragut may have crow on the menu if the Admirals ever loose a District 4-AAA game.Wink

"If you make every game a life and death proposition, you're going to have problems. For one thing, you'll be dead a lot."
HV the LAST thing West needs is for you to be putting out bulletin board material that Farragut could use as motivation.

So for all you Farragut folks reading this, ignore what HV said about the upset.

Bob, I'm sure I won't leave the office a minute before 3. I've left your phone number with the front desk. If anyone calls and ask for me tell them "I'm in a meeting." laugh
Hot and Cold.

Goliath and David.

Strong vs. Weak.

Farragut vs. West was all of the above.

Kyle Waldrop was outstanding today. It was as sharp as I've ever seen him. He no-hit West for 5 innings. Rob Catapano relieved Waldrop after 5 innings and completed the no-hitter.

For added measure Waldrop ended the game in the 6th with a 3-run walk off homerun. Waldrop had hit a triple earlier when the center fielder couldn't come up with the ball in deep center.

Farragut added homers by Cody Brown and Drew Reagan. All three homers were to the opposite field.

West starter Adam Snyder didn't pitch particularly bad, but Farragut combined hits with several misplayed balls to make West pay. All told West dropped/misplayed three fly balls and committed at least three throwing errors.

Tanner Hiles replaced Snyder, pitched well, but suffered from some of the defensive lapses noted above.

It wasn't so much that the West pitching was bad as that Farragut swung the bats well.

West started some different personnel in the outfield, but is still looking for the right combination.

West faces a tough Bearden team on Monday. It's gut check time for the Rebels. It's business as usual for Farragut.

HV, what was that about an upset? kidding

Biz, you have very kind words for our Admirals. It will be interesting to see how they respond as the schedule becomes more interesting -- with games more often. While we managed to get some dingers today, we still need to hit a little better. Maybe the warmer weather will help.

The Rebels are still adjusting, and it's still pretty early. After all, we've only officially been at it for 1 week.
As disappointing as the loss was, I don't think there's a team in the KIL that would have beaten the Admirals today. Waldrop was that good. I'm sure the scouts liked what they saw.

Still a 3 or 4 to nothing loss would have been easier to stomach because that would have meant West made the plays they were supposed to make in the field. Lots of times you see things get out of hand because the pitchers are walking batters, hitting batters, throwing wild pitches, etc. That didn't happen tonight. But Farragut took full advantage of every West mistake. I'm not certain but I'd say almost every baserunner scored that reached base because of an error or misplayed ball.

I thought Waldrop's best at bat was when he kept fouling off pitches until he finally put one at the base of the center field wall. Also there were several on the hillside that called his walkoff homer in the 6th.

They'll only be stronger when they get Delmonico back. Hope we're playing better when we see you again on 4/19.
