Anteater mania has clearly gripped the country. Hopefully there is room on the bandwagon for more.

The Whammer had a key at bat in yesterday's game by drawing a no out, pinch hit walk when they were down by five runs late in the game. He seems like a great guy to have on the team.

I was hoping for him to get a hit so I could see him run CD. He did charge onto the field following Linton's clutch hit. He didn't leap over the rail as some of his teammates, but once he got onto the field he got up to speed quickly! And although it's not on his roster photo below...you gotta love that 'stache!

What an awesome accomplishment for UCI! From no program at all to CWS participants (real contenders) in only 5 years. Who woulda thunk it?

Coach Serrano already has a great deal on which to build, and what a program he's got! I'll be looking for even more great things to come from guys like Orloff, Bergman, Pettis, Bardeen, and of course Spizzle's former ABD teammates Tovar, Pugs, and Pate (nice name for a law firm no?).

I'm thinking this is not the last we'll hear from Dave Serrano's 'Eaters.

As one who has had to wear the Anteater avatar not once but TWICE (why didn't we bet this year, Bullwinkle....), I have to say that I was pulling for UCI all the way -- particularly because their Friday night starter is the identical twin of our Cal closer What a great year for the Anteaters - and what fun to see them featured prominently on ESPN this morning! Young team with lots of upside next year! Hope the team enjoys their summer and comes back proud and hungry! ZOT!
