Al and others...

What is going on at the 17-18 level here in MD these days? Since dad died, I have had very little involvement with my Reds program. Having gone from never missing a practice or game for 14 years, to filling out a few roster forms each year, I have totally lost touch with the balance of power in the area.

For many years, the Baltimore Metro and the American Legion programs ruled the roost. Folks are telling me that some good players are playing on "showcase teams" during the summer, as opposed to your traditional travel or legion leagues. How much of an impact has this had on leagues like the Metro and Legion? I always thought showcase was a thing for fall ball at the 17-18 level.

Help me understand.

Larry,
Give me a call and I will gladly spend some time with you.

The nickel summary has to do with the recruiting rule changes for Division I School. This Division I recruiting rule change has created a stir with the college coaches at Division I and Division II as much as it has with the players. In fact they seem to be more visible during the summer than they use to be in what appears to make up for the quiet time after November.

In fact I have had more players receive the phone calls on 1 July than ever before. At one time that was for the select few, but now it seems the college coaches are pressing to get commitments during the summer versus the fall.

I had one top Division I player verbally commit in August.

Give me a call during the day (301) 261-3123 and we can discuss.

Thanks
Al McCormick
