Looking for some advice from those that have been to Fenway. My son is playing in a tournament in Rhode Island and if time allows, we'd like to surprise him with a visit to a Red Sox Game. He was playing in Atlanta last week and saw a Braves game so I thought it would be a nice surprise to follow that up with a Red Sox game. I've been looking online at Broker sites and understand I'll be paying a high price, but it's hard to tell what's decent since I've never been there. I don't even understand the full definition of standing room only. Also, are areas accessible with every ticket purchased? I'm afraid I will purchase a ticket and not be able to walk throughout park (like at the old Milwaukee County Stadium). Any words of advice on seats, parking, etc? Thanks

Don't drive! Take 95N from RI & park at the Riverside 'T' station on the 'D' section of the green line. This is pretty close to Newton. Get off at Kenmore Square, or maybe the Fenway station next to the old Sears building. Kenmore is a shorter walk to the park & more interesting too.

In the late 80's Red Sox ownership put a fence between the bleachers & the ret of the park. Before they put in the fence I used to buy $2 tix for the bleachers, then wander the stadium after 2 innings for new seat. Even if that were allowed today, you won't find any seats!

Every game has bleacher seats on sale at gate C behind the wall on Lansdowne St. They open the ticket windows about 90 mins before the game. There will be a long line!

Here's a T map that may be helpful. Boston T

Dbg has it right about the T......when we go back home to visit now we always get our tickets from brokers....we pay a high price, but....to us it's worth it. You can go to the Official Boston Redsox MLB site and link to "Fenway Park".....there is seating info as well as tour info of the park.....tours are available 7 days a week but on a game day you need to be there 3 hours before game time.

Good luck.....hope you get to the park!
I heard it was a deal that was made when Boston College came into the ACC. Boston College didn't even make it to the championship. Eek

Some from the southeastern teams not happy, feel it is way out of the way for the fans and a huge expense for the ACC.

I liked the venue at Jacksonville, hot, but great field and great city and not expensive to stay for the length of the tourney (6 days).

But for a player, it's got to be cool. Cool

If you can arrive at the park several hours early, there are guys (scalpers?) walking around outside selling tickets that come straight from the box office. For about $75 you can stand above the 1st or 3rd base sides. In Fenway, that means you'll be about 100 feet from the field and it seems much closer. You may even get tickets to sit down for that price, but never a guarantee. You cannot walk the stadium from the bleachers, so try for tickets on 1st or 3rd base sides. The atmosphere there is second to none and you won't believe how close you are to everything. Get there for bp and your boy is sure to get some autographs. I have always driven, but its $20 to park these days, so good luck.
My '06 son asked to see the Red Sox in Fenway as his high school grauation present, so we went this spring. We had standing room tickets and stood behind home plate just behind the grandstand seats. You could basically stand behind those seats all the way around. As others have stated you can't get from the grandstand to the bleachers. We took the Fenway Park tour the morning before the game and it was worth it. You go into the press box, on top of the Green Monster, etc. The "T" worked great for us, as well. We took it everywhere. Also Legal Seafood at Long's Wharf was very good.
Soxnole, Johny's and Anthony's just aint' what they used to be. Despite being a chain, Legal's consistently has the best seafood if Boston. No Name is also good. Union Oyster House has a lot of character and good oysters/steamers, but it does not rate with Legal's. Kingfish Hall, a Todd English restuarant in Quincy Market is very good.

OOh. I almost forgot. East Coast Grill in Cambridge is the best of them all, particularly if you like your food spicy.

Just returned home from an unofficial visit to some of the Ivy league schools and were fortunate enough to catch a Fri. night game at Fenway (vs. the O's); I had been there once before (and long before sellouts) and it was special this time to share the experience with my son and daughter (my wife, too, but she is still a people watcher at games).
Anyways, got my tickets on eBay. Buy it now price was $319 plus $10 s&h; $329 out the door. Seller sent tix Priority mail so I had them in two days. I checked all of the on-line ticket brokers; they all seemed to have access to the same inventory and similar seats would have cost at least $100 more if you include shipping, convenience fees, etc. We sat down the left field line (section 30, row 10) about halfway between third and the Monster.
