Well maybe not forever, but...have you ever had difficult circumstances to overcome regarding field conditions?

We had our Booster Club meeting tonight and all our games up until the beginning of April will now be away games and we have no field to practice on.

The story? Ah yes...Light poles. We now have beautiful concrete light poles all around what is left of a baseball field. Unfortunately the crane that placed them located itself in several key positions throughout our infield and our outfield.

The good news is we do not need to staff the concession stand this season!

The Journey Continues!

Oh my that is just a bummer.

At our HS, clubhouse, concession, scoreboard, lights and new batting cages were destroyed in Wilma. The field is owned by the city, the facilities the school. It took them a year to decide who was going to pay for what. We had just replaced the cages the year before, hard earned fund raising $$$ gone to waste.

Can empathize...Here's our story...

Lovely old field is nicely snuggled into a steep hillside...great views! Two weeks before the season starts...rain, rain, rain...

Bad news: A BIG slice of centerfield disappears in a landslide...leaving a gaping hole 80 feet wide, and 100 feet deep that threatens to swallow unwary outfielders.

Good news: Your son bats #4 and the centerfield fence becomes 50 feet shorter overnight! Stat sheet Heaven!

Cool 44

Talk about bad memories - when your son is a freshman pitcher - about to start his first season for a team that has a home field that now has a CF that is closer than a little league field. Keep the ball down kid!!!!

Field is normally "intimate" - that year Roll Eyes

I will say that every one of the MANY homeruns that I saw O44 Jr hit would have been out of any field... Splash hits in many cases...

I just remembered us having something similar.

Probably about 10 years ago it was decided that they were going to build restrooms and a new concessions area in the area next to the baseball field and the football field. So they started digging to put in the pipes right down the right-field line on the baseball field! They dug it up and then just sat there. Didn't do anything for awhile!

It eventually got fixed, but right field has never been the same since. Our outfield is not very good to begin with, but right-field is much worse than than the rest.
We share our field with football. Last year, my son tells me, "ma, during PE I saw a backhoe in the infield." I guess they were trying to make some improvements to the "football" field during the "offseason." Oopsie. They were instead digging up the infield. Fortunately a local landscaping company volunteered their time and equipment to help us out and we got the field back in shape. But it took some work!
Oops sounds correct there 2bmom. At our school the kids used to play football on the baseball field during the high school games. I guess the administration got tired of them running around because that has been put to a stop. Our baseball field used to be used as the s****r field. It's been used as a landing pad for helicopters too Wink

We're getting a new field in a couple years. We'll see if it comes anywhere close to being what this one is now. It ain't great, but it's a quality high school field.
