The McKinney Marshals have just completed their most successful season in its 4 year history by finishing a combined 95-43 (.680). Our goal was overall improvement over last year’s campaign from a win-loss perspective, post season progress, and player improvement.

The McKinney Marshals 18u completed their 2007 campaign by going 22-14 and finishing their season at the AABC regional at TCU. This year’s team went 2-2 at the Regional after winning one of the AABC state tournaments. This team peaked at the end of the season by winning 14 out of their last 18 games. We came in second place in the LSBL for the second year in a row and competed in 5 of 6 tournaments (rain claimed one tourney). The main goal of this club is to expose each of our 18u’s to college coaches and pro scouts. It is our pleasure to announce that we were able to help each ballplayer that wanted to play beyond high school into a college baseball program.

The McKinney Marshals 17u team finished their season at the AABC state tournament by going 2-2. This team was a total group of strangers as we had 3 new coaches and 17 new ballplayers on this club. This group bonded and competed from day one and played hard for the black and vegas gold. This team went 18-14 this summer and played in some great tournaments that included the Shreveport/Centenary College Invitational, The Dallas Baptist University Classic, and The Hill/MCC invitational in Waco. We feel this group will only improve as they go into their senior years. First year coaches Tovar, Garza, and Castillo did a great job with this team and we are expecting big things from them in 2008.

The Marshals 16U capped its season by winning the 36-team Premier World Series in College Station, TX
and repeating as Lone Star League champs. This group finished 30-7 and played in tournaments at 4 Division I schools: DBU, OSU, TAMU, and Baylor. The ballclub played injured all summer long as we lost a total of 6 kids at one point or another during the summer season. The injuries did not deter this club's goals of developing ballplayers, winning the league title, and winning the world series. Coaches Ostroff, Thomas, and Embry are already making plans to take this group to larger, more national tournaments in the fall of 2007 and the summer of 2008 that will include stops in AZ, GA, and other states TBD.

Just like the 17u team, our 15u group was totally new as we took 7 players from our 14u team and added another 8 through tryouts. Coaches Ferrer, Mize, and Self took the time to educate our 15’s in “The Marshal Way” and we think that it paid off. This group finished 25-8 and we couldn’t be more proud of our “Lil” Marshals. We played at some great tournament venues that included Weatherford, Grayson, and Austin College. We expect to have this entire group back one year older and a lot stronger. We feel this team could be dominating in the years to come and will be a force to be reckoned with on a national level.

We will officially end our season on August 12 at Buca Di Buepo Restaurant in Frisco, where we will take our rainout refund money and treat our 70 kids in our high school program to a free meal of pasta, pizza, and soft drinks. We will also have a surprise appearance by Van Halen with David Lee Roth on lead vocals.

Congratulations on a great season.

I have a 9 year old lefty coming up and I always thought that I would get him to the Tigers (like his big brother) or DBAT when he was a little older, but your getting Van Halen - with David Lee Roth - to come to a team event has changed my way of thinking. That is awesome - I hope the boys appreciate seeing Van Halen.

I am taking my 9 year old to see RUSH in Dallas next Saturday night. When you can combine baseball with classic Rock you have the best combination possible.

That is going to be one WILD team party for the Marshalls!

Kermit you are right - your lineup would attract more players than Van Halen.

But who pays the team FEE??!! - Van Halen all the way baby!! BTW - when I was a kid I even named my dog "Van Halen". My dad always hated it when he had to stand in our front yard yelling "Van Halen, Van Halen" every time he got out of the back yard.

But hey, I would like to see Beyonce. Can't argue with that.
Great job, McKinney Marshalls!

Feel free to pass on your bright idea to the director of my son's select program!
