If the 15u coach kicked him off the team it’s no Los. He didn’t value him.

Why would he want to play for an 18u team? 16u and 17u are for college recruiting? 18u is typically players who are committed or won’t be playing past high school.

If he’s talented a good team will be interested. If not, there’s always the bum teams. Are other teams recruiting him? Did the 18u team recruit him? If so, why?

Ok, I do know some teams have already had tryouts.  He can hit, lead his current Team in ba, and doubles (I believe).   Yeah, it was like a bad dream last night.  I still can’t believe he did that.  Said how we stabbed him in the back and he wasn’t going to be second fiddle.  The team he tried out for is mainly 16/17 but there are a couple seniors on the team.

I would call around to the various teams he'd be interested in playing for. A lot of teams are finalizing rosters. What positions does he play? As 2022NYC said, if he can mash they will create a spot for him. You can also call some of the bum teams and see if they'd let him guest play a bit until he finds a team.

I'm not saying I agree with the old coach, but if he wasn't aware you were considering a move he needs to make sure he fills the spot on his team.

If he is still in the recruiting process, then he does not need to play 18U.  Very few coaches will go watch an 18U team play because those tournaments are for guys who have committed/signed and are just looking for extra games or the guys who are trying to finish out their HS years and get in an extra game.  If he played 15U this year, then he needs to play 16U or at the most 17U this fall and next summer.

Having coached, I understand the other coaches position.  If you are looking, then you must not be happy so I want to find someone who wants to be here.  it is the risk we take when you go to a tryout.  But I will say if you were at a tryout then you or your son must not have been happy.  If he can play, everyone is looking for players for fall.  How far do you want to travel?  Send me PM of information and I will help.

My son, 2023, plays for a national team I coach. He will be playing for a different national program this fall on one of their "regional" teams.  This will help our team in a number of ways.  It is fall people...everyone is looking for extra reps.  This not only means my kid will get more reps and position specific training this fall but another player who gets less AB on our National team will pick up those AB in his absence.

Please remain open and honest with coaches and your player. If your kid is on a team where any similar "infraction" elicits a negative response look at what you are really paying for.  A quality team should understand it is all about increased opportunities for everyone. The team my son is playing with this fall was paid for his training as this is not a guest player situation. Additionally, if my son continues to be a valued commodity next summer and his fall team plays PG national events he would be an option if they need a player. We are asking for nothing free and are fully committed to the fall schedule we paid for.

Not being satisfied should be a standard position for any baseball player! If you are an uncommitted 2023, 2022 or 2021, are a lock to start at SS (other premium positions), and haven't tried out for a top 100 team you should be looking to improve your options this fall. Always challenge yourself.

Thanks Bob, we have a plan in place.  One of son’s coaches stated he will work with him all through the off season and next year.  Then at the end next year, this coach will be taking over a very good team and bring him on (For son’s junior season). In the meantime he will be training with a small (2-3) kids on fielding/throwing/hitting.
