The District 2-4A Executive Committee has found Dallas First Baptist Academy in violation of Section 87 of the TAPPS By-Laws in regard to four student athletes. These students have been declared ineligible for athletic competition for the 2008-2009 school year. The Dallas First Baptist Academy baseball team has been disqualified from district honors for the 2008-2009 school year. In addition, Dallas First Baptist Academy is issued this PUBLIC REPRIMAND and placed on probation through June 1, 2010. This decision has been appealed to the Athetic Executive Committee and the TAPPS Executive Board, and both have upheld the decision of the District Executive Committee
Posters -- as we discuss this, let's continue to leave specific names out of it. Thanks.
I have no intimate knowledge of this situation so my comment is simply an observation <-- my disclaimer.
Based on the history of the private schools in this area (SEVERAL) -- this infraction must have been significant! Solicitation of students???? Give me a break......it happens at most private schools and many public schools on a yearly/monthly/weekly basis.
It looks like First Baptist will be high school's version of SMU this time around.
The rumors out there was that there were questionable things going on from the inducements portion of section 87...right? I'm not connected at all and even I heard that.
No, FB is not the first. It happens at schools that are trying to grow which leads administrations to look the other way ("we need the dues"). FB was particularly obvious in soliciting players from one summer program which just happened to be the program run by the new coaches they hired.
This does happen everyday especially at alot of privates. What is surprising is that it was significant enough to get caught. I guess that is the price you pay when you have been bad for a long time and all of a sudden you start beating the "big boys."For example SMU vs UT. This has been a concern of mine for several years since FBA has been bringing in the "hired" guns to coach. When you hire someone that has controversy following them you get what you deserve. i'm an alumni and a member of FBA's first state championship team in 1981 so this one stings alot.
I believe stipulations are that they are ineligible for any post-season participation. They will play their district schedule, but essentially the results "won't count."
Additionally, I believe players are eligible for post-season honors, for what it's worth.

Come on!
I not surprised one bit! I'm actually surprised it took this long to get caught. You can't recruit players like you would your select team and I am sure that is the way it was approached.
You can't find a booster (and hide their identity) and set-up say 3 scholarships (donated) and open up them up to the public to compete or apply for the scholarship like it is a random thing. Then accept 3 all state caliber baseball players. There has to be some protection in TAPPS just like anywhere.
