Is this the first pebble in the pond?
Yesterday at a game against a powerhouse school that was giving us an old fashioned whoopin' (ok, one bad inning did us in) there was a recruiter from a very competitive D3 school (top two last year) having a look-see at one of the pitchers. That boy's mom came over and said he kept asking her who the kid behind the plate was (THATS MY BOY!) When told he's a sophomore, he said he was impressed with what he saw. Called him athletic, shifty, with great defensive skills. Then when my son got a big hit to deep center left the guy said the offensive bat and base speed would be a bonus to the defense. It's the first non-camp feedback we've had from someone related to college recruiting. Kind of exciting, even though it's just one guy on one day...
My son introduced himself and the guy didn't say anything about the school, just congratulated him on a good game, asked about his glove work, and teased him about having to block a lot of dirt balls.
Those who have gone before: Is this how it starts?
