Freshmen yr on varsity . Over centerfield
Senior year over left field fence just as I got out of the car to hear the announcer say his name "and that's over the fence." Sigh.
Sophomore year.
Junior year was first, with BBCOR and wood.
I'll be waiting for that first high school HR for eternity. But he did hit one in his first college AB.
Freshman year on varsity hit 3 and hit 1 in JV left-handed. Hit his first one summer before freshman at LakePoint with BBCOR in WWBA.
My son is a PO, so not gonna happen. Though he says he went yard plenty of times on Tracman during offseason workouts. Does that count??
Sophomore year on Varsity. Just missed as a Freshman on Varsity to straight-away CF.
Sophomore year - grand slam over the RF fence - about 345'. It was a wild game - something like 7-8 HR's between the two teams. Yea, it was a hitter's night.
Have a video of it somewhere - almost didn't get it - had just turned the camera on.
Went on to hit 2 HR's his freshman year in college (JuCo) and 6 HR's his Junior year - one was a grand slam.
Prior to fresh year in travel ball. And he had the chance to take BP at US Cellular (now Guaranteed Rate) his frosh year in HS and cleared the left field fence.

Mine also.
He's only given up one so far, as a junior on a HS field during a PG tournament. That one's still in orbit, though. I should look that guy up and see when he was drafted, he was a monster.
If he gives up one on his home field in college, it won't count by the criteria here. Not even 300 down the lines and like 320 or 340 or something to dead center, though "green monster" fence all around. Hitting a triple there is what impresses people. I thought he actually had given up one last year (watched game on crappy video feed), but it must have been off that fence, since it doesn't show up in the stats.

I think they mostly are, dimensions wise. Son's school is in an urban residential area, and field was clearly shoehorned in at some point. His HS field was a bandbox as well, but still bigger than college.

Most are. But this shocked me for a SEC field. Shively Field at Hagen Stadium at University of Kentucky until 2018 ...

His first couple of homers on a legit field occurred in 14u. They cleared 315/10-12 foot fence down the line. Most of the high school JV fields freshman year didn’t have fences. He hit a couple into the bushes. His first varsity homer came in (I think) his fourth game soph year. He hit it into moving traffic way behind the fence. The field was too close to the street more than he hit it a cannon shot.
My son wasn’t a power hitter, per se. He was a line drive hitter who hit a number of pitcher’s mistakes out. None of his homers from LL through college ever went to the left of the gap.

The ones I always found interesting around here were the square ones. One of the older HS fields was normal down the lines, 320ish, and like 440 to CF, with basically straight lines from the foul poles to CF.

When my son played D2 ball, the home field was a MiLB field as well (home of the Winston-Salem "A" team affiliated with the Chicago White Sox). As I recall CF was 399' while the left/right line was 330'. Had deep gaps (about 360') as well.
Yeah, those are legit fields!
My son’s high school field was five feet deeper up the gaps and to center.

In 2017 - Line drive hitting senior son hit his first high school baseball home run in his last regular season game. And it was Grand Slam!
Hopefully this portends well for the playoffs.

My best friend, that you hear on the video, had been hounding him for 2 years to give him a HR ball. Son told him you only get to keep one if you’re there to go get it. I smile every time I see it displayed in his living room.
