There are several parents of college players here. I am curious about how many of us can purchase fitted caps that match the caps our players wear for their college teams. I can purchase virtually any HS cap from the booster clubs in TX. We all know that MLB markets team uniform caps. So do minor league teams. Any dads (uncles, brothers, grampas) out there who have purchased a college team uniform cap?

Shouldn't the players be able to have something that is exclusive just to them...afterall, they are THE TEAM?

Reminds me of my 11U team parents last year. When we suprised the boys with some real nice team jackets, the parents all wanted one. We said, "NO, these are exclusively for the players and coaches." We told the parents that if they wanted to, they could get together and have some team jackets made up for themselves. Guess what? That never happened. I guess someone would have to do all the legwork, get sizes, get everyone to agree on a style, etc...

I think a replica hat should be sufficient. Authentic team apparel should be exclusively for those who are a part of the team.

My $.02
Well, I have a hat my son gave me. It is in my private collection. Coach forbids any parents from wearing them. I have seen some significant alumni with the team cap at games. College president, major donors, etc...

Cal Poly (DC just played them) sells some replicas that look VERY similar to the field cap. I was talking to one of the players though, and they do not offer the exact same cap that the team wears. Probably a standard college policy.

TPM I have actually seen some Clemson fans with those hats on...and Im sorry but I still laugh a little when I see them, I mean how corny can Leggett get...but I guess that is just the Gamecock in me.

Yes, many hats have the word Omaha on them, but only players hats have them in the paw.

I am not sure if the Omaha thing was started by #7 or Wilhelm. The word Omaha is repeated verbally before every game and is printed everywhere.
It's one of those "Clemson" baseball things, being a gamecock fan, wouldn't expect you to understand. Big Grin

I thought he put it on the back of the caps a few years ago (somewhere around 2000) to remind the team of their goals for the season...or at least I think that is what I heard him say in an interview or something...but I may be wrong. Either way I am looking forward to another good game (read Gamecock victory) in Columbia in a few weeks

You may be right, I am not sure who started it, but Wilhelm seems to have started the white pants and shoe thing.

FYI, I saw in another thread yuor posts about coaching. There are many colleges who have people who volunteer to help out with the team.

Good luck (not for the game). I do beleive my pitcher will be starting one of them, as he did last year.
