Huh....met Coach Meyer during recruiting. He certainly knows the job. I'm sure the move was discussed with admin. prior to.

They have not lost many games outside of the sweep by West Florida, kind of interesting...

They did get shutout twice by UWF, but alot of coaches have been shutout twice. Too bad. Pete Meyer has been there a long time. FL Southern is a small, well run school. I'll assume it was justified.

I thought I would share that I just met with an admission rep from Fl Southern, and I am very impressed. I can't say anything specific about baseball but it seems to have solid academics, strong support, experiential/engaged learning, (guaranteed internships, May options, "junior journey" etc) Engaged faculty and lots of new facilities. Interesting majors. And, a real 'bargain' for a private college at 35 K total. Generous fin aid and merit, so even if baseball schollys are limited they can really enhance with aid and merit $.

Since my last visit there 5 years ago (when honestly I thought the campus was a little 'tired' looking despite the Frank Lloyd Wright architecture), they have added 2 new res halls, new nursing building, new humanities building, and a new technology center.

30 min to Tampa, 30 min to Orlando.

FYI they are adding Men LAX so possible new opportunities for athletes. Strong golf, tennis, swimming.

This had nothing to do with winning or losing. It had to do with a certain situation that the players of FSC were subjected to by Tyrell. I don't think that it's appropriate for me to explain in detail what happenned. Bottom line is the players were subjected to a situation by Jim and the administration received complaints by the players, then he was fired.

This D2 college baseball team is now managed by Head Coach Lance Niekro (Yes - he is the son of Joe and the nephew of Phil) who has Major League experience, and one of the assistant coaches is Colin Kaline - professional baseball experience and grandson of HOFer Al Kaline.  Quite the pedigree for the coaching staff!  Both attended Florida Southern for college.
