One of the top all time program's in D1 baseball.

One of 2 school's (Texas) to play in all but 1 Super Regional since the playoff format changed. FSU has won more games than any other D1 team over the past 10 and 20 years! All time great Mike Martin at the helm with top rated (by ERA) pitching coach Jamey Shouppe sharing recruiting duties with player friendly Assistant Mike Martin Jr. Rounded off by Director of Baseball Operations Chip Baker, a long time asssistant coach. Class gentlemen running a class program.

National in scope over the past 3 years, Florida State recruiting, like many top 10 programs (and top 50 southern program's) is now fielding a team that is full of out of state player's.

Over the past 3 years, California, Georgia, Illinois, Mississippi, New York, South Carolina, Texas and Wisconsin have sent player's to Tallahassee. This years roster is 25% out of state.

The academics are tier 2 and the athletics are as good as it gets...and thats not just the Baseball, BBall and recent Dynasty Football program's. The Seminole's finished # 17 in this years Sears Trophy ranking's, honoring the best in college athletic program's!

Athletic facilities can only be described as "Sensational".

From a baseball perspective there is no peer with regard to facilities. As a recent Texas Dad just told me, his son heard all the hype from many of the top program's in the country about thier various facilities then, after his visit to Dick Howser Stadium and the Moore Center "I saw the cream of the crop!"

FSU has the finest facilities I have ever seen. Their football stadium is second to none and their baseball facilities incredible. I am actually looking forward to revisiting them this year.
Lots of alumni money means lots of opportunities for their athletic programs, meaning great facilities. I thought UF was an athletes playground, but FSU wins the prize!

Being located farther north than UF, it is very deceiving it is located in Florida. It reminds me more of South Carolina and Georgia.

Hey BaseballPapa & CW,

I really don't think TPM means "playground" as it sounds in her post. It sounds better to say campus with all the necessary facilities and tools available to reach maximum potential as both a player and student.

One more thing about the playground comment: It only becomes a playground if you let it and I know your son will be tempted, like any other, to follow the hounds to the parties and so-forth. That's just the reality of the situation at a huge school like FSU. Once they all see that he doesn't follow the masses and is a good quality person with high moral values, they will respect that and leave him alone.

Didn't mean to side bar(no pun intended)but, back to FL STATE. From my previous visits there, I can tell you the Coaches, players and entire program are all first class and will allow each and every student/athlete the opportunity to excel and atttain baseball utopia, however, they will also be watching very carefully to see who follows the wrong influences around campus and who has their priorties in order. Choose wisely and think out all decisions and things will go just fine. It is a battle though, so don't take the "playground" lightly and respect the campus and the domain therein and it will respect and reward you. Smile peace, Shep

PS(BaseballPapa and Casey) You will be fine CW(see-dub)!!! Tell Buster Posey to give me a ring and give him my number that's your new nickname, if you like it? Let me know. peace my brothers, Shep

To add a very important attribute to my previous post.

Casey will really enjoy the fine young men that have been recruited at Florida State. Charachter and leadership excell on this roster.

It's very enjoyable these day's watching the Nole graduate's in MLB. 2 Day's ago the Drew's played each other and an offensive explosion occurred!
With a uniform start date beginning in 2008, I predict the southern colleges will begin to equalize with the northern colleges.

The differences between the top colleges in the top baseball conferences is in the number of back-ups to starters for the top teams. Fla St has historically had back-up to the back-ups, Meaning they are three deep to each position player.

For those having not experienced 5,000 cheering fans rooting for their home team, and jeering at the opposition, it's a war!

FSU athletic facilities are top shelf.

Regards,
Bear
