Lost to them in the 2nd round this year. Should have won game 1, they beat us pretty good in game 2.

They have 2 outstanding pitchers, 1-9 can swing it, they play very sound defense. They only start 2 seniors so they will be back again next year as well. They are "chatty" from the bench and from the stands. I have alot of information that I have already shared with Coach Stinson.

I wish Flower Mound the best of luck. Should be a real good series.

Where are they playing?
FM will experience "Rabid" fans unlike any ever witnessed in the friendly, quiet confines of "The Mound". Every aunt, uncle, cousin, brother, sister and extended family members who can make the journey will be there supporting the Scorrro team.

The FM team that made the State finals in 2004 met up with a fiesty Socorro group, lost the first game and battled back to win two on Saturday. The Socorro players are skrappy and play hard nosed baseball. They are chatty and knowing a little Spanish will help the FM players and their fans. Smile

Hopefully the kids and fans can keep there heads but I see -blank- winning two games.

This seems to be Socorros best team since 2004.

FM has pulled things together at the right
time.

Good luck to both...

Yes, Christensen is the ooolllddd Minor League stadium. Just trust me DTiger...it's brutal.

Citibank is the newer $20+ Million dollar AA Park about 3 miles away from Christensen.

That may be luck of the draw, or the Midland Rockhounds (AA affiliate of Oakland) may be playing at home during that time as well which would prevent multiple high school games in one day there.

We played Socorro there 2 weeks ago. It is old and it is definitely not Citibank Ballpark.

The Midland College guys were working the field and I thought it was in good shape. It was quick (dry) but I don't remember any crazy hops or anything like that. They did take down the 20 ft. wall and replaced it with a chain-link fence, so it has lost some of it's luster there.

As for Socorro, their top 2 pitchers are very good. Gabe Aguilar is their #1, lefty, about 5'6 150 pounds. Throws all 4 pitches for strikes, very good change up, knows how to pitch, fastball was 85-86 against us. We hit him real well (10 hits, 4 for extra bases including 1 HR), but we killed ourselves on the bases making 4 outs at 3B. We lost that game 5-2.

Game 2 we faced Bobby Mares. He is a righty and part of their super Junior class. He was 87-91 all game. Good hard curveball, real good change up. His change up kept us off balance all day. They hit the ball much better in Game 2. Lead off hitter George Stoltz is a player. This kid swings it from the Left side and hits for power to all fields. One of the best 3B I've seen in a while, great leader. 2 hole is their SS, he swings it from the left side very good contact guy. 3 and 4 hole are big righty's that can drive the ball. They like it out over the plate, bust them in.

We actually held their top 4 in check, it was 5-9 that killed us. Mares, the pitcher hits 5 hole, he will swing early in the count. 6 hole guy was an OF who will pitch game 3 for them. We could not get this guy out!!! 7-9 will put it in play. 8 and 9 hit their only 2 homeruns of the series.

There is my scouting report. They are fun to watch take in and out before the game.

Akins, Wheeler, Durham, Parent, Williams, etc....

All tongue-in-cheek....This team and coach were given no credit and no chance and no respect from the get go...No superstars but they finally pulled it togther. Good for them and good for the program.
