Flower Mound vs. Southlake Carroll 1 Game

Gotta admit. Kinda liking the one game series.

Moffit should see the mound for FM too. Arguably has the most talent on the bump on the team. SLC would not win a 3 game series especially with LHP Alexander out with a broken left wrist

Seriously, this should be a great game between 2 of the best programs in the state.

And you better get there early, as both teams bring out the fans about as well as any team in DFW area

If it is a close game I give the edge to SLC if it is a shoot out FM will definately have the edge. I have not seen FM in a shootout yet this year due to the fact they have such good pitching.

So if it is a shoot-out FM has the advantage even though they haven't played many this year but don't have the advantage in a close game, the games they normally play (and win a lot of them). Now tell me how that makes sense again?

. Flower Mound has way to many arms. If Southlake can keep it a one or two run game I think they have a good shot. If flower Mound can score 4 runs I don't think SLC will win SLC has not seen 3 pitchers all on one team like Flower Mound has. I would love to be at this game and on a Friday night. Should be electric

My son umpired behind the plate for their scrimmage, he says both teams are loaded and expects it to be great game.

It wasn't a scrimmage. It was a Saturday non-district game on March 31st. Flower Mound won 7-1 and it was not as close as the score. Unfortunately, this is a one game, winner take all, match up. South Lake is certainly a good team who could put it all together to win tonight, but I believe Flower Mound is the better team and would no doubt win in a three gamer.

SLC wins 3-1. Not 100% sure on final score but do know they won.

Was actually 3-0

1 hitter for SLC vs a 3 hitter for Flo Mo. Must of been a good one to watch.

Hughes always seems to get it right this time of year. Everything I've heard is that FM had superior pitching so he flips and gets a one gamer. I'm sure people at FM don't like it, but Hughes does what is best for his kids.

Congrats to SLC and good luck the rest of the way.

Fun Game to watch....both sides played well and should be proud of the way they played the game on the field...it was played with class the entire game.

AGDAD19, Unlike you, I will not give any excuses for why FM lost. They got beat by a team who played better than they did. Simple as that. Good luck to your son in the next round. Oh, and yes, I am proud of the FM players and the season they played.

Quite frankly it wasn't an excuse... no excuse needed. It was a simple fact and an answer to your comment about it being a scrimage. Although it was a "regular" season game, Coach Hughes always uses those, just like he did against Allen, to play the guys who don't get the opportunity to play much. Whether I or any other parent agrees with this philosophy is mute....it's his program.

But...knowing the attitude I've seen display...no excuse was needed, just yesterday.

A friend of mine attended the SL Vs FM game at CHHS. He couldn't understand all of the comments about the FM players that was posted after their game with Coppell. He said the FM fans were great and their players showed nothing but class during and after the game.

Yes, I watched the ss and he showed class the whole game and was the first one out of the dugout to shake hands after the game. Their fans were awesome, students were loud but never out of line or obnoxious. Plano east should take notice how to act at a game.

Hmmm so maybe it hasn't been the ss instigating anything... Maybe everyone didn't see what happened at those games? Maybe it was coppell that was classless. But that would be dumb to think..

We played Flower Mound 3 times this season and had no problems with them at all. I know there were issues last year but nothing this year

That was one of the best HS baseball games I have seen. Great atmosphere, pressure packed, one-game takes all. Let me tell you though, that pitcher from Southlake, Greg Maisto, was amazing. The kid is a stud. Supposedly there were scouts from the two MLB teams there.

The only issue I saw from either team, was the FM pitcher, Gunter, laughing after he hit the two SL kids - one of them right in the chest. That was scary and a few inches away from being a life or death problem. Not classy to laugh at that.....
