I know a guy- real strong, but he once broke his leg, and was on crutches for a while, gained ALOT of weight, and went downhill (really uphill) from there. One day he decides- no mroe snacks, chips, the whole junk deal. He is almost un recognizable. It doesn't sound like you'd need to lose wight (at all, b/c I'm 5'11 and 175) but eating healthy is definitely good.

It really is simple as that.

Which statement isn't true? I like that advice (catch kill pick), but unfortunately 99% of people won't follow it. I think there are some pretty good foods that don't fall under that category too.

I see. Yeah, that's definitely not true. It doesn't mean you shouldn't teach something you believe in. I didn't mean to be rude, I just think that a slightly more conservative approach may be more effective with kids my age. You and I both know that there are probably kids who are like "I can't do that ****- guess that means I can't eat right" and then go on eating whatever they want.

Anyway, just an opinion. Always good to have some discussion on here. BTW I am working on a big nutrition thread that I think you could help a lot on.

Lowered expectations just lowers results, this has been proven over and over again.

In my opinion it is looking for an excuse. How do I know? I was there once. I looked for any reason to jusify eating bad foods, not stretching, relying on supplements, etc. So I will not lower my standards to fit into a lazy kids lifestyle.

There is a reason why my athletes make more progression than anyone else.
Nowhere did I say "bad" foods. I just meant that there are some more easily attainable substitutes, especially for one not consulting with a nutritionist such as yourself. Personally, I've learned to eat well and stick to a whole food plan. I don't currently even taken any supplements (including protein powder).

Are you familiar with Chuck "The Ripper" Rudolph?
