In sub varsity, have others seen preferential playing time for football kids that also play baseball? At our school, majority of the football kids are also good baseball players, but I might be seeing a slight bias towards the kids that played football. It’s not affecting my kid, but just wondering. I’ll add that at least one baseball coach is also a primary football coach.

Slight bias is often the coach knows the kid, his character and his ability. If you were the coach and your son was on the team do you think you might give him slight benefit of the doubt over a player you don’t know as well?
Very true. Reminds me of myself in a way. I got to middle school with lots of chatter about how I was a kid that could gallop. Too bad I showed up as a pudgy short kid. Coaches still slates me at RB based on the stuff other dads had talked up. Only took a few practices and I proved I deserved to be on the O LINE or the bench. Haha.
In my son's 4 years of HS baseball I think we had 1 football kid on the team. Football coach "encouraged" his football guys to be on the track team in the Spring
Your bias is athleticism. Plus relationship. It is easier to start and play guys you know and if a coach is a main football coach then he knows them and trusts them. It is also athleticism and many coaches see that over technique. Been there and done that. It is also seen in other areas. Coaches are biased to those who they know and have seen play travel ball.
Is the team winning
