So are you (Mr. Doyle) saying that the exersise that you would most recommend for a ball player for the forearms is where there is weights that are hung from a string and attached to a tube that one turns to bring up the weights on the string (sorry for the long explaination, but avoided using terminolgy to try to clear confusion)?

I didn't say that was my favorite exercise for forearms development. It is simply my favorite of the two listed. But it's a solid exercise and I suggest trying it at the end of your program.

I use a wide variety of forearm/grip exercises that most have never seen/done before. Impossible to explain through words as these exercises need to be seen.
