Cal Ripken Jr came to College Park to speak to the Maryland baseball team at breakfast on Saturday Jan 22, 2005.

The Iron Man's message of dedication, determination to having fun were skills
that allowed him to be a more successful baseball player.

In September, long-time Washington Senator
great, Frank Hondo Howard, practiced with
the Terps at Shipley Field. Hondo played alongside such greats as Gil Hodges, Maury Wills, Al Kaline, Sandy Koufax and Don Drysdale and once held a 27-year record, having 10 home runs over 20 at-bats in a six-game span in 1968.

So what else could be around the corner?
Terry Francona, Manager of the World Champions Boston Red Sox in town. Yep.

For those that know great baseball men, Coach Rupp is a survivor, both on and off the field.

For those that have found themselves in similar situations...... know.

It takes a special group of men to overcome all adversities. And when accomplished, many if not all bond for life. Such experiences can never be under-estimated in value.
