PRESS RELEASE
For Immediate Release
March 1st, 2012
THE EAST COAST’S HIDDEN
BASEBALL GEM NOW HAS
BIG LEAGUE OWNERSHIP

Caroline County, Virginia: On Friday February 25th, 2012 The Virginia Sports Complex (VSC) was acquired by Former Major League Players Dave Gallagher, Jeff Schaefer, New Jersey based entrepreneur Jim Radvany and the Founder of ECTB Terry Schadler.

The Virginia Sports Complex was built in 2006 by local Virginia businessman John Henry Attkinson and his family “My family built VSC because we love the game of baseball, the kids who play it and Caroline County” said John Henry. “Times have brought change and in moving through the sale of VSC I had and continue to have the good fortune of working alongside this amazing group of baseball/business people. I truly believe in my heart this is the group that will fulfill the dreams my family and I had for the Virginia Sports Complex, the kids and Caroline County when we built it.”

Under the leadership of new President/CEO Terry Schadler, Virginia Sports Complex is destined to become the East Coast’s premier sports facility. Terry was born and raised in Kutztown, PA, and is the founder of ECTB (Elite Championship Tournament Baseball). Terry held the titles of Middle Atlantic AAU Chair, USSSA Baseball, and is a current regional director for the USA Baseball NTIS program. “Terry has the experience to make this venture successful; he knows the baseball tournament and facility business. He possesses the background, dedication and determination that made him the obvious choice to be appointed President and CEO” said Jim Radvany.

Dave Gallagher and Jim Radvany were planning to build a baseball/softball complex in New Jersey when Gallagher’s former Chicago White Sox teammate Jeff Schaefer contacted him with the VSC opportunity. “Schaef called me and emphatically said not to do anything until Jim and I drive down to Virginia and looked at what he called tournament baseball’s hidden gem” said Gallagher. “Jim and I took the trip to Virginia and knew immediately that the VSC was more than we expected and exactly what Schaef said it was; a hidden baseball gem”.
“VSC is that special baseball place that will create memorable experiences for the families who visit and opportunity for the kids who play here.” said Schaefer.

VSC is located off Route 1 in Caroline County, Virginia. The facility features four large
(60’/90’) and four small baseball (50’/70’) professionally maintained fields. All fields have Bermuda sod infields and outfields and electronic score boards on each field. There are two 360 degree observation towers with full concessions inside each baseball quad and a state if the art sound system, a 40,000 square foot field house that includes eight batting cages, four volleyball courts, two basketball courts, full indoor turf, locker rooms, a performance training gym and two classrooms. A new restaurant/bar is in the future and is currently under construction.

The official grand opening under new management is scheduled for the weekend of March 24th and 25th.

RJM, there has been some disussion on this topic on the Virginia board.

I think VSC is more of a regional complex, although Keewartson has played teams from as far as New Jersey. Hopefully, with new ownership and a draw for teams outside a 50 mile radius, the principals will invest in marketing and possibly place an add on this site. We have some good memories of playing at VSC and are glad someone is taking it over.

I sent an email to the organization. I explained how much the site costs MN-MOM to keep going. I explained the site is popular due to the exchange of knowledge and lack of spam. I pointed out the paid ads on the sides of the screen. I got a snippy response back from one of the execs saying a regular poster told him to post the spam.
I'm sorry you misunderstood my reply, I was not being snippy. I simply replied with the fact that "I posted this to the site at the specific request of one of the partners, who is on the site regularly. This was not spam and we did not intend it that way." We are just trying to let everyone know we are open and there are former MLB players involved. When we are ready advertise, we will look into advertising with the site.
I don't see the evidence for spamming on this one as that implies they posted it over and over on the site and I don't see that.

MN-Mom (the site owner) allows for announcements like this and always has. I welcome this as well.

Now if you guys would like to run on-going announcements (i.e., advertisements) regarding your business concerns, we would appreciate that you become a site donor and pay for the privilege. This site exists on donations from all of us and none of us appreciate business entities coming here and exploiting our good will for free advertising opportunities. All that said, this is merely an announcement imho and perfectly acceptable according to site rules.

Welcome and good luck!
I know Terry Shadler and I have to believe that he understands the value of this site and also how much good this site does in the baseball world. I am certain that Terry will let his partners know that it is the right thing to do to support the site and that in the long run it will only help them with their venture.

Good luck Terry and I look forward to the future support you guys will lend to the HS Baseball Website.

I'll leave it at this so I don't end up in court proving what I would have posted even though I would have no trouble getting witnesses. Fortunately Diamond Nation was built nearby. Maybe it's why Terry is now doing business in Virginia. To be positive I could say Terry has made a lot of money.

If anyone wants to comment regarding Shadler and ECTB you could start with scheduling kids to play on Clemente Field where you have to walk the field for broken glass and used syringes before playing, the all dirt field was hard as concrete and not safe for sliding, and the chain link fence running down the first base side had rips in it with jagged edges hanging out that would shred a kid if he tried to make a play against the fence.

Yep, it was all about the kids and their safety. There were plenty of other fields in substandard condition. Hamburg had 2-4 inch holes in the outfield.

VSC,
Welcome to the HSBBWEB. I'm very happy to see VSC back open. I live nearby and thought it was a shame to see it close. I have some great memories there ranging from many nights watching my son workout to winning the USSSA State Championship.A little side note my son threw the first perfect game at the complex(14u)so I was told by the first manager(couldn't help myself Wink ).

Great facility and I wish the best of luck to you.
